If this goes wrong, I may not graduate High School. In 7th grade I took
Algebra 1, a hHigh sSchool credit class, and I took the most important test of my life so far. Because of this experience I have adopted the quote by Charles Barkley that says, “If you are afraid of failure you don’t deserve to be successful!”, as my personal words to live by.

I am as nervous as you would be if you were going to jump out of a plane. I remember how important this test is. If I don’t pass this test I can’t graduate High School. I can’t concentrate with everything going on. I look down at my gigantic binder full of notes from the whole year. I felt the staple scrape against my thumb. I hear my sisters in the other room doing their homework. I smell the delicious dinner cooking downstairs. It’s aroma filling the air. I can already taste it in my mouth. I hope tomorrow goes well. Wish me luck!

Now everytime I take a test I will study until I am confident, do the best I can and tell myself, “You got this!”, and hopefully I will get an

Friday was the big test day. When I entered the classroom, I overheard some of my peers lament about how tired they were from staying up so late trying to study. I was confident that I would do great, and yet a small part of me was still nervous that I would fail. When our instructor handed out the tests only the sound of pencil scratching paper could be heard. When we completed our tests we were allowed to leave, so when I finished mine I was out in a flash.…

Anxiety was my first foe. During the beginning of the tenth grade, I had set high expectations for myself and it began to affect my life greatly For instance, after finishing the test, I would think about just one specific question that I thought I completed wrong.…
