Many people, at some point in their lives, wish for a twin brother or sister, but they don’t truly understand the difficulties and bond of having a life-long partner. Many twins have trouble identifying themselves as a single person. People they know and love compare the twins, often with drastic results; however, through it all, twins usually have such a close bond that it lasts through the ages. For singletons, it can be challenging to recognize the tight bond twins have, the struggle of comparison, and grasp a twin’s loose hold on his or her identity. Consequently, a lot of twins struggle to establish themselves; however, a twin’s perspective of identity is completely different from that of singletons.…

Emily is pessimistic, high maintenance and very well organized. I, on the other hand, am more optimistic, open-minded and easygoing.…

So a twin was asked if him and his brother were friends with one another's friends and told me that they do both share a majority of their friends with each other, However being a twin does not mean you and your twin share the same personalities with each other. Then life hits, and our personal experiences, relationships, and location affect who we are and how we view the world around us. One thing that has shaped who I am and how I see the world is being a twin. It can definitely be maddening to spend almost every waking moment with someone, but it also creates a lot of opportunities to learn to communicate and work with others. If someone told me in my freshman year that I would stop swimming, I would’ve called him or her crazy: swimming was my passion. I embraced the grueling hours, intense training, and early mornings. I loved swimming because it was challenging.
