Paper 1 & Presentation (Ethics as Identity and Personal Journey)
It was a typical sunny day in Southern California just like every other day. I woke up and quickly threw on some jeans and a plain white tee as I had plans to meet up with my best friend Jennifer. We have been besties since kindergarten so for about sixteen years now. Jennifer was the sister I never had. Growing up on the same street, we were always together. Whether it was going to school together or just hanging out at each other’s houses playing dress up, we were never separated. I knew I could completely trust Jennifer and confide in her no matter what. She had my back and I had hers. That’s how close we were to each other. Jennifer was the sweetest and most kindhearted individual I have ever met and I’m not just saying that because she was my best friend but because she was truly an angel. She would never do anything bad to anyone or put anyone in danger. She was always there for you whenever you needed someone to talk to or just hang out with. Jennifer was one-of-a-kind. Never met anyone like her.

What a coincidence. Jennifer had been dating a guy named Jake from back home for about two years now. The two met in high school and have been high school sweethearts ever since. Unfortunately, Jake ended up attending a college in a different state. This meant Jennifer and Jake were going to have to commit to a long-distance type of relationship. They both felt confidant enough that they were going to make this relationship work despite the long distance. So, here we are (Jennifer and I) having the time of our life in college until one day Jennifer starts acting different. She asks if we can go somewhere to talk in

Outside of Pleasantville, this would be normal for any teenager, to ask someone you like to come over. This scene takes place just outside of their school and Jennifer says “My mom will be out of town” and her friends gasp because they know what’s going to happen next. And Mark replies with “So uh… Maybe we could, uh..” and presumably everyone knows that Mark will be going over to Jennifer's. But when that night comes, the TV remote happens to break right before Jennifer’s date and David’s movie marathon. Right after the remote gets fixed by a TV repairman, David presses the button and a few seconds later him and Jennifer fight over it, they get transported into Pleasantville.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

3 Days Minus 2 I woke up to a loud, metal sliding noise and quickly came to my senses. At first I thought “Where the hell am I?”, but then it all came together. There is one quote that I am finding is becoming more and more relevant in my life as of lately, and although it is quoted from Dr.Seuss without citation, it is also an anonymous proverb. That quote is “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” I finding myself thinking of this particular quote often because many things in my life are coming into an end very soon and i am constantly reminding myself that I need not to relish in the sorrow of it ending, but be grateful that i got to experience it at all. When I was looking for a quote and this was the first I came across, I felt that i wouldn’t find a more perfect quote to relate to my life in this moment.…
