Personal Narrative: I Was I Born To Do?

1. What was I born to do?
This question really gets me thinking because I really do not know but I was born to do. And yet, and I may never figure it out. But to be completely honest, I want to feel that I was born to make a difference in this world. Being able to change someone's life for the better has always been a big thought in my mind. I feel that even making someone’s day just a little better and changing their mood that day is my purpose. I have always strived to be the person to make someone smile and change their day for the better, even if it is just a smile back while passing someone on the street or on the bus. God made each and every one of us for a reason, and I believe he put me here for one specific reason. I have not figured

Throughout high school, basically every night I would be downstairs with my mom and we would just watch our “shows.” My dad would travel a lot for work and so my mom and I would like to relax and watch the television while he was gone. My mom and I have about 7 different shows that we would watch every week and time would just fly by for us and the next time we looked at the clock, it would be around midnight or later. Once my sister, who is 4 grades above me, went to college (at Texas A&M WHOOP), my mom and I got very close. I tell her everything and our television time was our bonding time. Now that I am at college, I really miss her, so when she comes to visit, all we do it talk about A&M football and our television shows. That is hands down my favorite thing to do.

She responded with, “Organized, not bashful, dependable, hard working, and punctual.” To be completely honest, I was shocked and honored at the same time to see that my mom sees me in that way, but I can see it. I have always been an organized person, and always will be. When my townhome is messy, I am stressed and so I have to clean it before I can get things done. For example, before finalizing this, I had to clean my entire bedroom so I could relax. Not bashful was a new one for me because about 2 years ago, I was super shy. But, starting my junior year in high school, I got a job in retail and immediately opened my shell. Now, I can talk to someone and make a good relationship very easily, and it has benefitted me while in college. I love getting to know people and bonding over the smallest things. I have always been the dependable friend, because I care so much for my friends and family. That has been a negative in the past because people took advantage of my generosity, but I enjoy helping others. Hard working is something I care deeply about, because it shows people that I am dependable and want to make a good impression. Being a hard worker can bring many opportunities and in the end, helps others. Lastly, I hate being late or running behind, so punctuality is very accurate. I do have my fair share of running a little late to a meeting or class, but it

It often goes deeper than that, however. It can be trying to lift the mood of a terrified english class by volunteering first for a dull presentation that I put an otherwise comical spin on, and it can be sitting down and engaging a conversation with the frustrated online learning director with nobody else to talk to. No matter what the scenario and no matter who needs the assistance, I want to be there because helping is what I love to…

Though I’m still developing my legacy, I like to think that most people who know me, regardless of how well, consider me a person that can put a smile on nearly any face. From my time in high school as photo studio assistant getting babies to giggle on camera to my work as a personal trainer cracking jokes to help clients through the worst parts of their workouts; I learned that a little laughter can improve any situation. While this is a fairly simple impact to have on people, I do believe that it’s a powerful one. My own experiences with bereavement, chronic ill health and periods of poor mental health have shown me the value of a person that puts in the effort and time to get a smile out of someone. Though happiness is a pretty fleeting…

My Birth Story Birth stories have a lasting impact on expectant mothers. Recognizing the influence of birth stories is a key component of informal communication of knowledge about childbirth for expectant mothers. The goals of the birth story interview and discussion are to provide an opportunity to explore the sharing of a birth story as a critical way of knowing within the family and community, and also to promote understanding of the prenatal period and taking-on of the parental role. The topic of storytelling is important to nurses and families, as it allows the integration of the nurses’ experiences into their future nursing practice, which may be invaluable in facilitating authentic and meaningful connections with their patients.…
