Personal Narrative-I M Phynn The Anthropomorphic Shark

I’m Phynn the anthropomorphic Shark. Like every other shark with legs and arms in 500,000 A.D., I like to eat. Actually, I love to eat. Unlike most sharks, though, I enjoy cooking the fish I collect. My broad, webby hands give me just enough dexterity to be a chef.
Since I am one of the few sharks on the planet who can cook, I opened my own restaurant, Physhy Phun, where sharks could come and test the different varieties of fish. The building is an ancient factory that has rusted walls, holes in the roof, and shattered glass windows. It is a perfect location for a restaurant aside from the fact that it rests upon a crumbling cliff of chalk. The skyscraping waves can be heard crashing into the cliff, slowly withering the chalk away. The force of the surges can be felt pulsating through the floor. The ocean air creeps in through the

The most popular meal is the Cod Sandwich, a raw cod sandwiched in between two blackened cod. The briny flavor overpowers any other flavor for a matter of seconds. The crunch of the outer cod complements the juicy cod in the middle; this meal has always been a Phann favorite. Other meals include the Guppy Plate, which is a bowl piled high with 100 diced raw Guppies. The Guppies have a gum-like texture that allow them to slide down their consumer’s throat with ease. The Guppies refuse to be chewed, but they also refuse to lose their strong iron taste. The Tuna Salad is another popular option. Tuna fish are spread out on top of a layer of seaweed, giving the fish a fresh taste as if they had just been yanked out of the ocean blue.
The customer base of Physhy Phun is incredibly diverse. A plethora of shark species come all at once to feast together. The Great White Sharks are the most consistent customers. Everyday each Great White will enter the restaurant and devour more than most tables combined. Often they will pick up their plates and pour them straight down their

Sharkwater Rhetorical Analysis Sharkwater is a 2006 documentary created by Rob Stewart, a young biologist and underwater photographer. Being passionate about the ocean and those who inhabit it, Stewart created his documentary with the intention of destroying the bad reputation that society and the media has put on sharks. Stewart also highlights in his documentary how humans have cruelly made sharks the prey and the enemy for decades. Ethos, pathos, and logos played a very important role in Sharkwater, and was strategically used throughout the documentary in order to persuade the audience that sharks aren’t the enemy, and shouldn’t be treated as such. Pathos, the appeal to one’s emotions, was heavily relied on throughout the documentary in…

While near pinniped rookeries in autumn and winter, sharks avoid the surface and use water to 50 meters in depth which is consistent with a silhouette-based hunting strategy. White sharks also exhibit a broad depth distribution offshore and remain there for the spring and summer (4). White Sharks typically spend their day in temperatures between 15C to 24C (59F to 75F). However, as they begin to hunt their prey, they dive down deep into the ocean and slowly rise as they look for food.…

There is one viable solution available. As a statement against shark cruelty, some Chinese couples have instead chosen to serve birds nest soup to their guests. Birds nest soup is exactly what it sounds like: a birds nest, cooked with broth, vegetables, and usually chicken. It is just as expensive and upper class as shark fin soup. In fact, it has often been referred to as “the caviar of the East”.…

If one were to ask a young girl want she wants to be when she grows up, she would proudly say a princess, or maybe a rock star. I’ve never been the typical girl though and my answer was always different. Some days I wanted to be a dog trainer or a zookeeper and being a marine biologist wouldn’t be too bad. In middle school I realized what all these jobs had in common; animals. I knew whole heartedly that I wanted to work with them, to improve not only their health and welfare, but also that of the community they were in.…

Commercial overfishing is a problem that is often discussed and scrutinized, with improvements made to fishery sustainability and methods of practice. While this may be considered progress, few species suffer the same peril that the sharks of our oceans do. Sharks are the apex predators of our waters, and if we continue our ways we run the risk of threatening our entire oceanic food chain. One may ask how this has become such a real possibility, and the answer is both simple and disturbing – shark finning.…
