Personal Narrative-I M At Aundre's Home

Brick walls start off strong....but even they crack over time, they'll become so broken...they'll be no need for someone to climb. I can't even remember what the occasion is. All I know is what I see before me. I'm at Aundre's house, and this is the first time I'm seeing an actual family that's not on some TV show. There's uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, moms, dads, just everything. They all hug eachother and say how they've missed one another, but the way they interact, you'd think they were never away from eachother a single day.

"Come on Kai, I'm starving." Dre says, and we start to walk towards the kitchen.

"Kai you came!" Aundre's mom greets, as we get into the kitchen. She bends over a little in order to hug me. I don't know how to describe her embrace...it's just...motherly. I wrap my arms around her in return, and my hands rest gently on her

She un-balls her hands, and her anger is replaced with worry. I started using cocaine to feel 'better' three years ago when I had my first breakdown after remembering my mom giving me away. I knew it always had a way of calming down Cedric in his darkest times, so I figured what the hell? I only used it two or three times before Dre stopped me. I've been clean for a good two years, but lately...the same memories are coming back...and I need clarity from them. "Damn it Kai! I thought you were done doing that!" Treasure yells, and smacks my shoulder.

"I-I'm sorry. I swear it was only for last night." I say. I know I've disapointed her, just like I've disapointed Dre, and I feel so bad about it. Watching me poison myself must be hell for them, because they care about me.

"Oh really, it's not just something you can take and all of a sudden stop taking. It's not like it's some sort of habit you can easily get rid of! I bet you've been doing it this whole time, haven't you?" She yells, now not knowing if I've kept my word these past two
