The phone rang, I got up to answer it quickly, like I was running the marathon because I knew it was Jackie. Although I knew who it was, what came next I wasn’t prepared for. “Joe, Joe, help me,” cried Jackie helplessly on the phone. I tried to ask her where she was but by the time the words came out of my mouth she hung up the phone. She was supposed to come over, but now she needs my help and I don’t know what to do.

“My friend just got kidnapped and put into a white van by 3 people,” I said helpless and nervously and all the other emotions you could think of going through a 17 year-olds mind right now. All I could manage to catch a glimpse of from the car was the license plate, however all I could remember was the first 3 letters DGJ.
“Alright I’ll talk to you later,” the police officer exclaimed heading back into the darkness of the night. I knew I had to do something about it or I couldn’t live with myself knowing she got hurt. It was about 3 a.m. when Jackie got kidnapped, now it was about 4. I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore I had to go to bed. The next morning I woke up at about 11 a.m., that's when I received the most important phone call of my life, it was Jackie’s

I went to the Stop the hate/ Hate crime laws session on September 29 and had Valerie Wetzel as the instructor. I learned that a bias incident is where a bias is present, however there is no crime committed. I learned that a hate crime is a crime, violent or property related, motivated by prejudice or intolerance toward a member of gender, racial, religious, or social group. A day in Hamtramck “Get your ass from here,” the police officer said. I took my car keys from his hand, and I unintentionally dropped them because my whole body was shaking as if it were 32 degrees out side but with fears burning in my stomach. I slowly bent over and took the keys from the floor and walked to my car. My car was three feet away from where I was standing, but it felt if it were as far as the North Pole is from the South Pole.
