This environment significantly influenced my beliefs and my perspective on the world as a young child. As I matured into my own person, I realized the negative effects of closed mindedness and sought to become more tolerant of those with backgrounds different than my own. In my opinion, diversity and inclusion should be embraced. I have reached point in my life where I want to be surrounded by those who share the same values as me. I was able to grow up in a close-knit community and I had a true small town experience. As for my academics, Rockingham County High School has provided me with a sound education thus far. However, I also sought out opportunities that allowed me to advance my schooling. I have taken additional courses through the North Carolina Virtual Public School, the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, and Rockingham Community College. Nevertheless, I still recognize that growing up in Rockingham county introduced me to the concept of culture and inspired me to pursue a higher education through outside opportunities.
