Personal Narrative: I Didn T Get Successful On Your Own

Decent Essays
As an American business owner, if I heard that statement I would be outraged. My thoughts would be, I have worked so hard to get where I am, I paid all my loans from when I started, and this was my dream and I made this happen on my own. But, as you see time and time again, when speeches are given after winning an award, such as a music award, they thank many people for helping them get to where they are; they thank parents, god, producers, etc. Therefore, there is truth behind "You didn't get successful on your own" (Obama, 2012). But, to say that someone else made that happen, I am not so sure. Even though you are grateful to so many people for helping you along the way, it was your own determination to get where you are today as a business

My key life lessons are that nothing beats hard work and if you treat others with respect, they will generally treat you with respect. Hard work and effort are the main aspects that lead to “lucky” things happening. Good things don’t just fall into people’s laps, the ones that have the most “luck” generally are those that put in the most effort and work. Also, I have learned that when you truly respect those around, they will respect you back and life is much easier when you aren’t doing things behind each other’s backs.…

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

Success is often defined as the accomplishment of one’s goals or objectives. Most people measure life by their successes. Life is a game in which I am constantly measured by myself and others. When I was younger, I based my goals on the expectations of others. Being successful is not up to anyone else, only oneself. It 's up to what they do and no one else’s decision. They determine what they need to do and how to do it. "There are new lands, new men, new thoughts.…

Overcoming my Struggles As a little boy, going to bed was the best part of the night. It is when your eyes are hanging low and you are doing everything you can to stay awake to hear a story that your mother reads to you before she tucks you in bed. Hearing and understanding words as a little boy was not that hard for me. I could comprehend words and say them, but as I started to go to school my parents knew something was not right. In my opinion, my struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) continue to be a challenge with the struggles I had before I found out about my diagnoses, finding out about my Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) changing the way I did things, and continuing to overcome my challenges I have with Attention Deficit…

The first time in my 18 years on this earth that I can say that I really experienced failure was during my freshman year of high school when I tried out for the basketball team. I came into my freshman year of high school thinking I was very prepared for freshman basketball. I thought I was prepared because I had played aau basketball previously for multiple summers and had known and played multiple times against the guys I was competing with for a spot. Well I thought wrong because during the first day of practice I was surprised by the intensity and realized I was out of shape. The first day of practice shocked me because the intensity of the practice was something that I had never experienced before.…
