Sometimes I feel as if I live in two different worlds. At home, I live with my parents and brother. We speak Vietnamese, and we are not an average American family. I have Vietnamese traditions that some people never heard of in their lifetime. I follow Vietnamese morals that are a lot more strict and demanding than most kids in the U.S. I celebrate holidays that most people can’t even pronounce. Every year it seems to be the same. It doesn’t get worse, but it doesn’t get better. I started my first year of high school in September of 2014 and high school is supposed to be where you find yourself. I have never believed in that. I’ve always questioned how a person can possibly find themself when they are constantly being judged, which is a very popular activity that high schoolers do. At Avondale, I learned very quickly that the atmosphere is incredible. You feel like one big family, like you belong. With this atmosphere comes many school wide assemblies. My favorite assembly would be the diversity assembly. The diversity assembly is amazing. It is ran by the diversity club and it features many talents. However, it is different from a talent show because these acts are based from certain cultures.
