Improved Essays
I am Kierra Strickland. I am 22 years old. I was born in Laurel, Ms but raised in Moselle, Ms. I am the eldest of 3 and I am a new mom to a beautiful princess “Kyla McKenzie.” My 22 years of life has been wonderful but I must say that this past year has been a blast. Honestly, I say this because of the birth of my daughter, having her really made me reevaluate my life and change for the better. I have many things that symbolize my life such as being born and raised in Mississippi, Hearts, Zebra’s, the color pink, and last but not least scripture Phil 4:13. A heart for me symbolizes mainly love but also loyalty. I myself love to love, show love, and be loved. Love is not just a word but is showed throughout ones action. There is really no better gift to anyone then to show the love and loyalty. …show more content…
For instance, in the bible in 1 Corinthian 13:4-6” love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrong.” My characteristics are very similar to those of a zebra. Not only are they very beautiful but they are strong, friendly, protecting, determined, and willful. I try to be friendly to everyone I come in contact with no matter what type of mood or personal situation I am in. I will do my best to protect the ones I love and people who I may barely know. I also stay determined to be better than I was the day before and focus more on the positive things in life. Not only is my favorite color purple but it best describes me. Ambitious and peaceful is what I am. I really dislike friction so try to keep peace or be a peacemaker for the people who have a problem that I can assist

Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American.
