All the years I’ve lived on Elm Street I have never seen any sign of life in the house across the street, except a family that moved in and moved out only a few weeks later. It’s kind of mysterious actually, and I’ve always wanted to go up to it and walk in to explore. My parents have told me the things they have heard about the house, like there was an “old man whose wife passed away right there in the house, and her spirit still lurks”, maybe that’s why the families have never stayed for more than a month. Sometimes I’ve even caught myself staring at the house from my top window trying to spot things. I want to uncover the real truth about the house that I find myself overwhelmed.…

I was visiting my family in minnesota, staying at my Aunt’s house a few weeks before my birthday. I was watching cartoons with her and significantly older-than-me cousin in their shared bedroom. I can faintly remember the room, Table in one corner, and two separate beds in the other. An ancient boxed tv sat at the foot of their beds, with the VHS tape built in. We all joked around, hitting each other with pillows during previews and drinking soda past 10 pm.…

Nonetheless, their quarrel lasted about fifteen minutes, and it took my mother calling my grandfather over our house to settle things down. However, by that time my grandfather got to our house my brother had already called my father. Once my grandfather got to our house, my mother broke down crying, and my grandfather took my brother to his room to talk some sense into him. Furthermore, my mother wiped her eyes and told me that I should be happy that they were getting back together. “What about me, my school, and my birthday that is coming up in a few weeks?”…
