Personal Narrative: I Am Blake Arnold

The land looked majestic, like it was out of a dream. The land was lush with trees and greenery, while a thick fog covered the tops of the cliffs. I tied my boat off and started to climb the cliffs. I knew that no one had lived to tell what was behind the cloud, but still I climbed. When I was young, my mother told me stories about men who ran away and never returned. I was now living the story myself. You see, I had been banished from the city after getting caught visiting my incarcerated sister. We had always been warned of the consequences of overindulgence, but nonetheless greed got the best of her. A swift trial sentenced her to a life term in jail for stealing more food than her daily share. Every citizen in the city receives daily meal …show more content…
At first I don't answer, hoping that he will just fall back asleep. “I...I Sir,” I stuttered, “I was just...just exploring when I came across the cave. I needed to find a place to sleep.” “Who are you and where are you from?” asked the Giant, still angry that his sleep was disturbed. “I am Blake Arnold. I am from the town of Northwich.” Not certain if I should reveal my fugitive status I continue, “I have been banished from the city for visiting my sister, who is in jail. I have come here to escape the restrictive clutches of the society that I have left behind. I can no longer tolerate the governmental policies in Northwich,” I say, with more confidence than before. “May I ask who you are?” “I was once a man, your size, until I left the same city as you. Over the many years I have been living here, my limbs have become larger than any man’s ever was. I am considered a giant to anyone who found me. My name is Ceo Bullard and I would like to join you in your quest,” the giant said, becoming less and less angry as time went on. As soon as the sun came up the next morning, we set off climbing the cliff to try and find the top. We came across yet another cave about …show more content…
Ceo and I did not speak much for the rest of that day. The next day we finally had enough courage to talk about our pending death. “Ceo, this is all my fault. If I wouldn't have woken you up in your cave and dragged you along on my quest, none of this would have happened. To add to the problem, I was not smart enough to leave the trees be,” I cried. “Blake, stop blaming yourself for all of this. This must be our fate, what we are supposed to do. If that means being executed, then we will. Remember, I am the one who wanted to come with you and I didn't try and stop you when you grabbed the apple. We are both at fault. Let’s not talk about this anymore, it makes me sad to think about,” Ceo said, with tears in his eyes. Just then, the guards came in our cell, so we could not continue the conversation. “The judge has ordered for your execution to be carried out today,” Garin barked. Before we could respond, we were handcuffed and led back into the trial area. “Ceo, Blake, say goodbye to each other after we take you into separate rooms, you two will not ever see each other ever again,” Judge Yara said excitedly as we were led into the

“You’ll never leave” is carved faintly into the brick wall of the small jail cell, probably from its last guest. Every day, I started to believe the phrase more and more. I lay on the uncomfortable cot, pretending to be asleep. I’m lonely, but I’m not alone. I can hear him breathing and slowly flipping the pages of the newspaper; I assume it’s…

The familiar aroma filled the courtroom, a typically soothing blend of the fresh-cut grass directly outside, the familiar scent of freshly printed ink on crisp paper, and the relaxing perfume of the coffee we all depend on for survival. Since that day, however, that scent has lost its appeal. Just thinking about the trial makes me sick to my stomach. The prosecutor, Sharpe, renowned for his quick wit and skill. The opposition, Finch, was just as known for his sharp tongue and wide intellect.…

d to snatch at the world with twenty hands, and not for a very laudable motive either. That was wrong, and am I to show now that not even a year’s trial has taught me anything? When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude.
