Personal Narrative: I Am As A Multi-Player

Decent Essays
I am from a mother and father, aunts and uncles, grandpas and grandmas, and great grandparents like a carousel going in endless circles. I am from dual sisters that almost always squabble, a record that is partially broken. I am from love and caring, amusement and friends.

I am from soccer and basketball, goals and baskets. I am from successes and setbacks, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. I am from excitement and falls, assists and misses like a roller coaster that doesn't know the track.

I am from team to solo, single to multi-player. I am from strategy and deck building, teamwork and speed. I am from victory, a great task successfully finished like the excitement of a giant water slide. I am from defeat, a single mistake and the building

When I was in the first grade, I was considered a goody two-shoes because I followed all the rules and got good grades, but I never really believed that I deserved the nickname until one day on the playground. My friends and I decided to play Follow the Leader. As we continued to play the game, we started to sing all of the songs we had learned in class. I began to wonder, are we allowed to sing outside during recess?…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

“Alright now Skin, I need you to be my leadoff here and get a rally going!” I do not respond, because I obviously know how important this one at bat is for the team and for myself. One thing coach loves doing, making sure I know how much I am accountable for. There is no comment to explain to me of how dependent I am on these upcoming moments for the team, so don’t make it any worse. To start off and to have the power to set the tone of the whole inning.…

Making It to the Big Time I am Vincent Crabtree. When I was a freshman in High School, I participated in an activity called “Winter Percussion”. It was much like marching band, but it took place during the winter and spring season, and it featured a smaller ensemble composed mostly of percussive instruments. Throughout the season, we had practice almost nightly, working to put together a show that would be performed in competition with other drumlines.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

My greatest passion and activity is field hockey. A field hockey sisterhood is like a flock of migrating birds in the deep sky. If you look up, they soar through clouds sticking together in a V-formation similar to the diamond layout on a field hockey field. If you look down at a field hockey field, you will see girls from kindergarten through college ripping, the solid ball. As birds fly south in the winter, they rely on each other for directions like teammates naturally depend on each other for directions.…

To understand me you must understand my passion for volleyball. The last eight years of my life have been filled with training in what I would consider to be the best sport. I played at the varsity level all four years for my high school career and the school off-season was filled with club volleyball. My passion for this sport has left me with many bruises, a few concussions and hundreds of great memories! I love the rush of a win and I cry with each defeat but as in life, every loss is a lesson.…
