Middle school was a different place and environment that was different from elementary school more work and less people. In middle school I learned my strength and weaknesses and my likes and dislike .Middle school was the stage where I found myself. I still did the same thing like playing football, chess and I joined the band but the difference was in football my team was terrible we never won a game how much we tried and scored we could never win until my eighth grade that is when they won games and went to the playoffs but the only thing I quit the team due to personal issue. Eighth grade was my year I became the best chess player at my school and I made drumline third bass so that means the summer before entering ninth grade I had band camp which was the best time of my life . Band camp is very long and tiresome but worth it at the end of the day .This start my ninth grade year of high school at Howard High School located right next door to the middle school. My high school career was very short not really happened expect my freshman marching band was life my first game was the best game. Because of all the marching and long nights paid off

Reaching the Pacific ocean after a year of discovery was an accomplishment known historically around the world. Our team was brave enough to explore unknown territory, determined enough to travel 8,000 miles, clever enough to perfect cartography, and bold enough to lead almost 30 other men across the continent. In August 1999 I had the privilege of meeting Arthur Ray Hawkins, known to many as “Coach Hawk”. Being a typical teenager, I didn’t always heed to the words of wisdom that he tried to instill into me daily. Not understanding his passion for God and people, I would often get mad when he challenged me to better. Why, because I wanted to settle for being good, yet he impelled me to be great. Not only on the football field in between the white lines, but in my daily walk in this thing that we call life.…

“The wisdom of admitting your weakness and correcting them through continuous learning means leadership.” – A. James. When I read this aphorism it immediately clicked with me because this is something I had to learn to do to become a good leader. A leader isn’t someone who bosses people around to do things that will just benefit them.. A leader is someone who learns from their weaknesses and inspires others to better themselves.…

Sometimes the world is not as kind as it was to Sherman or it is just a cruel, but in a different way. When I was younger, I knew this kid (let’s call him J). J was a generally nice kid who lived in a lower class condominium townhouse connected to my backyard. Eventually over time we became friends, and after that best friends. I met his family and bonded with them to the point I considered them my home away from home.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…
