Yet those brave teen cancer patients whose life are ten times worse than a bully victim, never give up on life. I had a problem in reading, speech and English which were originally the subjects that I excelled in. A neurologist told me that chemotherapy had damaged my brain so much that I should be homeschooled; however, I went back to school despite the neurologist approval. I studied two hours per subject every day, I made better grades than ever. Years later in high school, I made all A's and Top Ten. My determination to triumph over my learning disabilities resulted in my academic …show more content…
I am an humble, caring, and religious person because of cancer. I am not like the average teenager girl; I do not desire to have designer clothes, fancy shoes, expensive hairstyles, or designed nails. Since I been in many near death situations, I know being pretty and fashionable is not what's important in life, but life itself and health is what's important. I enjoy the simple things in life, like being able to walk, spending time with my family, and going to church. I love to visit the cancer patients in my community. I chat and play cards or bingo with them to take their mind off their health. Because so many people help me when I was sick, I love to help others. Cancer had helped shaped the type of person I am

A cancer diagnosis isan increasingly common event and affects nearly everyone, whether directly or indirectly. The prognosis and treatment process is not the same for any two individuals. That being said, breast cancer patients are often throwninto a culture of identifying as a “fighter”or a “warrior”duringtheir treatment and are deemed “survivors”once in remission. With reference to Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Welcome to Cancerland,”I will explore the loss of personal identity and forced optimism placed on breast cancer patients due to breast cancer culture.…
