Personal Narrative: Hufflepuff

There it was, staring at me with its beady little eyes lined with black going down its furry white head. A badger. More specifically, a badger on a black and yellow coat of arms. This was my destiny according to the creator of the Harry Potter Universe, J.K Rowling after I took the House quiz on Pottermore. I was a just, loyal, patient, and “unafraid of toil” Hufflepuff. Yes, Hufflepuff, the house that no one cares about. I imagined myself as the brave and courageous lion of Gryffindor or the sly and cunning snake of Slytherin, not some badger. What even is a badger?
I rebuked the notion that I, Isabel de Armas, would be an airy Hufflepuff. I am lazy and impatient, and there was no way that I was unafraid of toil. But alas, when the creator of this universe creates a test to determine your Hogwarts house, you know the house you got into would be legit.
Through extensive research, soul-searching, and a few nights of crying myself to sleep, I found clarity. J.K. Rowling, aka the queen of all things great, revealed that her favorite Hogwarts house was Hufflepuff. Not Gryffindor, not Slytherin, not Ravenclaw, but Hufflepuff. That’s when I began to see the joy of being in Hufflepuff.

Rowling meant by saying Hufflepuff was her favorite house. Trying to live my life the “Hufflepuff way” has helped me grow as a person and a student. My work ethic has improved, which will help me throughout my days in college and my future career in the sports industry. I have created strong bonds with so many people by helping others whether it be in school or in my community. It has shown me how to deal with adversity since everyone openly hates the Hufflepuff community. Being a Hufflepuff isn’t about the merchandise or claiming the better-known characters throughout the book series, it’s about embracing who you are and owning
