Personal Narrative: Hoyte John's Family

Decent Essays
The Hoyte-Johns family is one stop on the crazy train no one would want to miss. My father Trevor is 40 years old, my mother Charity is 50 years old, and I am 13 years old. My grandmother Phyllis also has lived with me since I was little. We are a sarcastic bunch with way too many jokes to make. My father cracking a joke, my grandmother insulting me, and my mother watching it all is usually the norm. But we also take time to try and be calm, cool, and collected. Even if nothing works out in our favor, that is okay in our family.

My mother has quite the personality. She will be nice one day and mean the next, then throwing in disappointment here or there. She has brown hair and brown eyes, with yellow skin and she always wears black clothing.

As hard as my relationship was with Thomas, I am grateful for what I learned from being with him. I learned that I am a strong and an independent person. I didn’t need him to make me feel secure and happy. According to Mendenhall (2014), intimacy dances work best when they support both people (Mendenhall, 2014b). I’ve been listening to a lot of Jon & Deek in the morning, and in the mid-afternoon, and early evening. Those two (or one?) have me flipping through channels, seeing if I can remember what station NPR or The Keg is on. All I could remember about a station was “the Eagle is classic rock,” and I spent many minutes at red lights flipping through the country music stations trying to be reunited with my old customary station, only to find myself listening to Will Ferrell screech “SAANNTTAA!” on 94.9’s Christmas ad. Nothing was more brutal, and yet familiar than this. There’s no aux cord in my 2002 Honda, and it spits out cd’s when I put them in, and I can’t make myself realize that I’m not motivated enough to actually listen to NPR on a morning drive, so I resist looking up the tune-in number.…

We all have that one family member that’s makes a negative impact into our own life, well that’s my aunt Rosa, I would like to express couple scenarios in a form how she has shown me since a kid her ugly personality. She has a strong aggressive character by this I mean she doesn’t take no for an answer neither commands from anyone. The main reason I say she has an aggressive personality is because she has changed my perspective of pursuing my college career path in New York City as I always dream of. Also, another scenario a while back when I was four years old, I remember I went to visit her in New York for Christmas, which is where she lives and the rest of my family and a huge accident happened that impacted my life still till today.…
