A very significant place to me that I’m sure I wouldn’t be the same without is the track, more so the track team at my current high school. It changed my life for the better. There may be times when I don’t feel that way, mostly at practice when we’re doing difficult and tiring intervals, core work, or even when something I really don’t want to do comes up, but if I really didn’t enjoy it then I would have quit a long time ago. Through track i developed a mindset to not give up on things easily, i met some of my closest friends, and experienced some of the best and worst things that life has to offer.

Joining the track team during my freshman year of high school wasn't something that i thought of that deeply. I joined it to have something to do with my extra time after school so i initially wasn't very serious about it. After coming out for the first week and going through the beginning regimen for people with no experience in the sport it was very difficult. Looking back at it now I seriously question why i didn't quit, even though I remember thinking about quitting a few times, though I'm grateful to my past self for not giving up. The mindset to not give up came in handy during many of my races where even though i felt tired and my body hurt i was still able to push myself to not let others pass

It's hard to imagine the types of friends and social groups I would be in if not for track. My teammates and I would most likely have been at best, just friends or acquaintances since i did have classes with some of them. Track was what solidified our bonds and helped us to develop close ties since we had gone through hard practices together. The experiences that we had together on the track, even though not always good, have shaped me both physically and mentally to handle some of life's greatest challenges, something that I'm truly grateful

With my senior track year coming up, my dad suggested I switch to mid distance races to catch coach's eyes. With my endurance from running long distance for so long, and my speed from all the previous sports I played, mid- distance fit me perfectly, and I soon started to gain colleges attentions with my races.
