A few days before my family and I went on a bike ride during summer break, I learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. The route we were taking was from my house on Revere Street to Pennypack Park. I had always loved going to the park. I loved the fresh air and the trails that took us deeper into the woods, but whenever my family went on a bike ride through the park, I always felt embarrassed that I had to ride my bike with training wheels. On our way, I tried to make a berm that went up one side of the hill, with the other side going down into a ditch. Riding up the berm was a breeze, but coming down, I realized it became too difficult to straighten out the handle bars. I tumbled over the side of the trail and down into the ditch. In the processes the four-wheeler had hit a large boulder and flipped up, throwing me over the handle bars and face planting me into the dirt and rocks.…

This story begins on a hot, summer Sunday on a neighborhood playground in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida when I was a kindergartener. The playground had one item that I liked the most which was a thing that you would hold onto then someone would push you across ten feet while your feet were hanging down. My dad came up to push me and might have pushed me a little too hard. When I got to the end of the line there was a rubber block that stops you very abruptly. Due to inertia, I was flung off of the handle over the rail, then did some crazy acrobatics in the air, Finally I landed right on top of my left wrist.…

My family has always been a sports family. Ever since I can remember the entirety of my life outside of school has revolved around sports. For my dad it was soccer, a sport which I played and enjoyed but unlike my parents, when they were younger, I had a burning desire to play hockey. Hours of running wildly around my house dressed in goalie equipment, finally convinced my parents to sign their 5 year old up for timbits hockey. I enjoyed playing the game for many years to follow, and still do to this day, but there came a point where I was not getting what I wanted out of playing hockey competitively.…

Learning how to sit on was a breeze compared to this. There were moments where I was going down a hill and I was scared to use the pedal as a break to slow down, and still manage to crash and fall, also I would be going too slow and wobble in place trying to pedal then fall over. That’s when I had enough, I grabbed the bike lifted it up and throw it across the street. My mom saw everything yelled at me to pick up the bike and to bring it to her, she yelled at me and grounded me for the rest of the day.…
