But is that all you get better at? The Park View girl’s soccer program has been going on since the school was built. Overall, since the development of the little nine league, The Park View varsity girl’s soccer team has won 7 champion titles, the first one was in 2003. The coaches…
We began to train even harder, disregarding the swelling on our knees and ankles, tasting the conviction and persistence in the training court shared by all. Meanwhile, I watched professional soccer games, read coaching books every night and observed the training of our rival team, and tried to think of a good strategy. My research drove me to play a direct counter attack style to win the games. In the final team meeting before the big game, I presented my strategy, and convinced them that every individual’s potential is indeed unlimited, especially when they focus on their goal and work together. If the whole team believed in each other and fight to the end, we could change a failure to a victory.…
I arrive at the field ready to go, with music blasting in my ears and my white kit already on. In the locker room my team is pumped. I quickly get out on the field and start practicing my passes and my shots. The game comes and starts faster than I expected. Ten minutes in and I get sent on the field.…
Soccer has shaped me, built my personality, and has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. Soccer has effected me all throughout my life and there is no better way for me to tell you about myself other than explaining the role soccer has played in my life. I have been around soccer for as long as I can remember. Soccer to me is more than just a game or sport. Soccer has shaped me and is a major part of the person I am today.…
In lieu of letting the new players struggle with learning technical skills, I and a few other veteran team members taught the new players the fundamentals of soccer. Through weeks of training and weekend practices we all began to see growth in our new team. From this moment I knew my hard work was beginning to pay off. We endured many discouraging losses from the first few games; which turned a lot of heads in my direction. But we slowly bonded as a team and learned how to play together which showed on the scoreboard.…
Just playing a little scrimmage with their best pals can make a person forget about their struggles for a bit. When I step onto the pitch I forget all my problems and worries for the brief moment that I am playing my match. I believe in playing soccer. Soccer is like no other sport it can bring old and young together. It is a very emotional game and even bring a grown man to tears.…
One of the many discourse communities I belong to is a soccer group. It is made up of people of all ages from under 10 years old to parents. We meet on alternating Saturdays at a park near the Civic Center in Irvine and play from around 9:30 to 11:30 or 12:00. Then we pick teams as evenly and randomly as possible to ensure an even and exciting game.…
Failure is all around us, for most of us it is a daily occurrence even with little things like failing a quiz or missing a shot in your game. I used to let my failures define me and who I have been especially when I failed to make the Varsity soccer team my junior year. I believed I worked hard and I should have been able to accomplish this goal of mine. I worked hard throughout the summer and tried my hardest to keep up with the other girls so I would make Varsity.…
As a young girl, I never thought I would become so attached to a sport, and definitely not soccer. My mother expected me to be like any other little girl with a barbie doll, which I was, but then I developed an obsession for the sport. I supplemented a very interesting passion for soccer when I reached the age of 8. From the good compliments I receive from my coaches, my family, and friends, I assume i’m a great soccer player skill wise. The reason I am mentioning how important soccer is to me is because, it is one of my talents that has forever impacted my life in such a good and positive way.…
A time in my life I attempted to join the soccer team for east. It all started when the first day of school started I would do Good in school. I will do go much better in school to get too be on the soccer team. I set this goal because if I were to be on the soccer team I would keep my grades too an A or B and would keep them as high as I can. Joining the soccer team would be significant to me because if I were too play on the team my grades will go to an A’s or B’s.…
Without soccer, I would not know how to tell my story. I didn't have much free time for soccer teams when I was young because I had to take care of my 5 younger brothers when my mom wasnt home. But in sixth grade our neighborhood was full of Latinos that loved soccer, so that is how I started to become more passionate about it. Our neighborhood did not have a nice field. It didn't have goals or markings, it was pretty much dirt and grass.…
Throughout my short life journey, soccer has been an enormous part of my life. I began playing soccer at a young age; this is the point in my life when I fell in love with the sport. As I grew older soccer became less of a hobby, and more of a lifestyle. Today, I am literate in the sport of soccer, because I have proficient skills, and a firm understanding of the game. I consider myself very soccer savvy, however the most important literacies I have acquired from soccer were the life skills of hard work, dedication and perseverance.…
Playing soccer had always come naturally to me. Since I had played since the young age of seven, I had gained a level of confidence and calmness while playing the fast paced game. I seldom stressed about playing time. Instead, I counted on my natural speed and talent to impress my coaches. At the age of seventeen, I made a decision to try out for a new team.…
The roar of the engine sends my heart racing as I pull out on to the track, one lap around and we are off, trucks at my side as we glide around the turns. The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. It’s funny really because clichés aren’t my thing, however, at times idioms are just the thing to describe a situation or time period in one’s life, for instance the saying that “life is a roller coaster” couldn’t be more fitting for my life. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…
My Passion for Soccer I started to play soccer when I was four. It has had an important impact on me. This is the reason I met my friends. When I was four I got my first ever soccer ball.…
