Starting around December of my senior year the thought of me going to college and leaving my friends and classmates I have been with since I was five became a reality. We were all applying and being accepted to schools all over the country and though it was an extremely exciting time for everyone, it was also sort of sad. We had been together for as long as we could remember and since I went to a small school, we all knew everything about each other and not only were we close with each other, we were close with each other’s family’s. Not only was the class all relatively close with each other, but we also had tight groups of friends. My close group of friends all chose schools around Maine and New Hampshire and though we are not too far from …show more content…
My friends and I have a group chat that we use just about everyday. Texting is a great way for us to stay connected because we all have different schedules and it allows us to send random thoughts or questions we have throughout the day and we can respond when we get the chance. It is also a really great way to stay connected with my family because I can text my parents if something happens during the day or something I want to tell them and may forget to later and they can respond when they get out of work or have a second. It is also a good way for people to contact me if it is not an …show more content…
It seemed like such a long time while we were apart, but when we got together it felt like we had just been gone for a couple of days. One of my friends said, “I feel like I just saw you guys. It doesn’t feel like it has been seven weeks.” My other friend responded, “That’s because we are able to text, Snapchat, or communicate in some way everyday.” She is right, since technology allows us to connect with people close or far away so quickly and easily, it makes distance and time seem so much shorter. Being away from family and the friends I have always known has not been easy, but it is definitely more manageable because I have the ability to pick up my phone and call or text them and know that they will respond as soon as they get the

Disappointed, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I sat there between the shattered windshield and my steering wheel. I couldn’t stop thinking about what just happened, what did I just do, and did this really just happen to me? My lungs began to tighten up as I began to cry out of fear. “We tend to lack the close, supportive relationships that people in former generations enjoyed” stated Patetic. Perry Patetic in his passage , Fast-Moving Society, argues that the new advances in mobile technology make it easy to move and destroy relationships with the past, friends, and family. The author supports his claim by first explaining that people no longer have the connections with others like we did in the past. Perry continues by saying that the disadvantages outway the advantages in this case. The authors purpose is to persuade people to stay close to those that they care for so that they keep a strong relationship.…

I currently live in a small beach town right outside of Jupiter, Florida known as Hobe Sound. It’s a “drive by town” as I would describe it. There really isn’t anything there would attract or gravitate people to stay there; its better to just look at it out a car window well passing it. It is currently about six hours outside of Tallahassee, Florida. This seems really long, but originally I signed to go to University of Mississippi and later realized that being more than ten hours away from home was to much for me.…

    1. I think that I would rather have a conversation with others in phone because it limits the chances of misinterpretations. I mostly text my friends or family because if they’re busy with something, it is just more convenient for them to check their phone and see that I texted them. Another great reason I rather text is because I come from a big family and if there was an emergency, one person’s text can be sent to everyone in my family text group. The only thing that I hate is because I can send anything with emotion in the message, so conflicts would arise.…

I can remember after my parents would say goodnight, I would lay awake in bed waiting to make sure they were settled back downstairs.…
