How Technology is Affecting My Life
I have always wondered what would happen if we didn’t have technology, and how technology has been affecting my life. This week I have documented everything and all the websites I go on. I used the “Moment” app to track how many hours I spent on my phone, computer and my iPad and how many times I check my phone. This app was very helpful and made it easier and more accurate to track myself. I always knew that I spent a lot of time on my phone and I’m always very distracted so I decided to not use any technology for two days, just to see the effects technology had on my life. I have definitely learned a lot from this experiment and it’s a great way to see if technology is helping me in a positive or negative

I do like being a night owl because I always finish so much homework at night, but when I do want to go to sleep I spend the next 2 hours online. For example, this I documented what time I got to my bed till what time I actually slept. Most of this week I went to bed at 12:00 am but I didn’t sleep till 2:00 am or even 3:00 am. During that time I check YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snap chat, Twitter, Pinterest, Vine, etc. I literally couldn’t sleep if I didn’t check and scroll through all my. For the two days without any technology I went to bed earlier 11:00 pm and I fell asleep right away. I woke up with so much energy and I didn’t click on the snooze button that much.
Technology is affecting my life in a negative way, but there are positive effects as well. I just need to use technology in moderation. One of the positive effect that I have noticed is that I am very addicted to YouTube and it’s my worst distraction, but, when I’m on YouTube it’s like a community each YouTuber has a group of supporters and you can really feel like you know them. Also You Tubers are more normal living a normal life with their boring blogs yet its pretty fun to watch because I can relate to them more unlike

Technology is changing our lives and whether we like it or not we find ourselves having to go along with it. Writers, readers, composers, researchers and so on need to find a way to adapt to the change that comes with what we call “The Technology Era”. As always there will be two sides to any change; the one that will agree with it and open their arms to it, and a second that will forever talk about how great times used to be when things were done the only way they know to do things because they do not like change or cannot adapt to new. Nicholas Carr (2008) states “I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly when I’m reading.…

Most lunch table conversations have the same idea over and over again repeating without real thought to the idea. Society as a whole is developing more and more technology to make our life easier but before we know it the thing we have spent so much time into doing is going to make us not have to spend time doing anything. Before you know it you have aged 20 years you have a family and you are asking yourself where did the time go. If someone goes a whole day without using technology the possibilities of coming up with new ideas and applying them to yourself will increase because we will always come up with better things for ourselves because it applies directly to yourself not the Kardashians or the next most famous singer.…

There are many ways that technology shapes our day-to-day life. It’s our future, and the less someone knows about it, the more likely they are to fall behind in society. While technology has its ups and downs, it is a gateway to the future and is continually changing our culture. In Kara Alalmo’s article “7 Ways the iPhone has made life worse” she states that “While we're busy on our phones, we're ignoring the world around us” (Alalmo).…

Technology can actually be a double-edged sword. Its advantages are indisputable; however, its disadvantages simultaneously deteriorate the whole picture. Arguments have been raised from both advocates and their opponents for decades, and it will not presently come to a consensus. In the three articles “Someone to Watch Over Me (on a Google Map)” by Theodora Stites, “Hell is Other iPods: The Aural Loneliness of the Long-Distance Shuffler” by Caspar Melville, and “Caught in the Web: More People Say Heavy Internet Use Is Disrupting Their Lives, and Medical Experts Are Paying Attention” by January W. I have always been interested in technology and how it works. Whenever I would get a new technological device, I would instantly start playing with it and figure out everything it is capable of. I also enjoy helping other people figure out how to make their electronics work; even if it is something as simple as explaining to my grandparents why one text message is green instead of blue. I also really enjoyed a summer camp where I learned how to program a computer game and program a robot to go through a maze.…

Before this class, I hadn’t really considered the nature and significance of my interactions with technology. Looking back, however, I realize that technology has influenced what I do and how I think from a very young age. From playing video games and memorizing the keys on a computer key board as a child, to doing various projects in high school and college, to using an e-reader I have immersed myself in a culture of technology without much conscious thought. I think that many people have this same attitude of adaptation.…
