Personal Narrative: How Technology Has Shaped Our Lives

Technology has drastically shaped our world and the way we live in it. Many jobs are now done with machines and education can reach those who are thousands of miles away. Blackboards are replaced with projectors, text books replaced with computers, and libraries are at your fingertips. Teachers can now show videos to explain concepts, which in many ways can improve a student’s comprehension, while also engaging their minds.

It is hard to remember a life where you would not have been able to hear your loved ones voice for months, as they lived across the ocean, and yet we live in a world where that is normal. Technology is connecting us in more ways than we can imagine, helping us take a stand together like, The Egyptian crisis. A dictatorship within Egypt led many to live in a psychological fear that kept them from speaking their thoughts and demanding their rights. It was only through the support of people via social media not just from their homeland but people from around the world that shared the views of those living in a suppressed society. It was only in 2010 where a picture was posted of a man brutally beaten and tortured to death did it set off a snowball effect. The picture was covered up naming the citizen as being a criminal and that he chocked on a pile of ash.
