One thing that changed my life was my decision to follow Jesus and get involved in church. This event changed me a lot in many ways. This positively impacted my life by opening my eyes to different ways of seeing things and i had a different perspective of life, people, and many situations.

All my life i attended church. From the day i was born i went to church with my family. My perspective on religion as a young child was mostly about rules and learning about stories in the bible. I was pretty afraid to do certain things because i was afraid of what my family would think, because the church had expectations for certain things. I remember one time i colored my nails with a marker and i was afraid the pastors would see on Sunday for i shook their hand with my left hand, pretty funny to think about it now. My source of learning who Jesus was through my family, or through my Sunday school class.

She wanted me to go with her, but i was scared because of what my grandparents would say. I finally decided to try it out one day. When i got there everything was pretty cool and new, there was lots of modern things and lights and big screens and it felt pretty cool. I wasn't ready to try out the children's class yet because i didn't know anyone there and there was a lot more people there than my old church. My favorite part of the church was the music, I loved it. When i finally decided to go in to the children's class it was even better. They played a lot of cool games, and everyone was so nice and funny. The biggest thing was i earned how to apply what i learned to myself and connect with the stories in the bible in a real life way, instead of just hearing them, it gave me a much greater appreciation of them.Later that year i went to camp with the church and i felt a deeper connection and felt like i was really learning who Jesus was and that he was real and wasn't just a story in a

My religious community has played a profound role on my development as an adult, the three guiding principals of Zoroastrianism: "Good Thoughts, Good Deeds, and Good Words" guide my actions daily. Being part of such a small community while heightening my sense of being has also made me more appreciative and understanding of other cultures & groups. For me understanding others has become a key component in understanding myself. We didn’t really attend church due to my parents “belonging” to only one church and that was located two states away. Every Sunday as a young child, we would have “song and prayer. " This is where we would go to my father’s parents’ house and sing religious songs and discuss life struggles. The girls had to wear dresses, while the males wore dress pants and a nice shirt. I know many would think of it as a strange event, but I found it more relaxing and beneficially then going to an actual church.…

Ever since I was a kid, Christianity has always been a part of me., but as curious as I was, I never really understood why I was here at all. I always felt that it was like school, an obligation. At a young age, I was a good God-fearing Christian lad who prayed every night and went with my grandmother to church because my parents either worked or were too exhausted to go. As time went on, though, Greek Orthodox Church became less of a priority. Even my grandmother stopped going often, only on holidays. In teenage years, my mind became engulfed by science, girls, and making sure my hair looked alright. We moved away, no Orthodox Church within ~500 miles became my excuse for skipping the Sunday sessions, so God faded from my mind.…

It's normal over here to start learning different languages at an early age. In elementary school you get the basics, which are Dutch and English. And in the first two or three years of High school (it depends on your level) you get the basics, and in addition to that you get: German, French, and sometimes Spanish or Latin. When I was younger they would only subtitle cartoons, so you either learned how to read fast, or learn English.…
