For the past five years my father has been working jobs up to eight hours away from my mother, siblings, and I, which has resulted in me not being able to see my father for sometimes weeks to even months at a time. Though they are still married, my parents’ relationship has been on a progressive downhill slide since the birth of my youngest sister, and they have both expressed serious considerations about separating. While this does not surprise me, I know that it will take an enormous toll on my siblings, and that regardless of a decision to separate from each other or not, my father will have to support my mother for the rest of his life. My mother has also been suffering from serious G.I. complications since the birth of my youngest sister, and has undergone seven major surgeries and is expecting to have more in the near future. This has resulted in me having to step into the role of caretaker for my three younger siblings ever since I was enrolled in seventh grade. I am no stranger to cooking them meals, driving them to and picking them up from school (sometimes having to leave early from my own in order to do this), bedtime …show more content…

Mom was small, a slight 110 pounds but through my eyes, she was large, even after my height surpassed hers. To this day, she would argue that she weighed only 100. Overbearing, and overprotective of me, her only child, she usually controlled every situation, regardless of how trivial.…

I’ll sit on the rocking footstool and read. The pictures face her and from my perspective the letters appear upside down, it’s irritating when b’s look like p’s, d’s look like q’s, and vise versa.…
