As an ignorant young adult, I wasn’t very outgoing; I was always the shy student, the one who always got bullied and I wouldn’t really talk to anyone. When I turned fourteen, my parents informed me I was to attend confirmation classes. I wasn’t exactly enthused at the new that I would attend it for two years. To add to these, wonderful news; my older brother was going with me too. Goody. During the first few months I went I found it to be quite boring and unintriguing for me. I had to stay by my brother at all times because I didn’t know anybody else there; making the whole ordeal even more soporific but I had no other choice. A lot of people around me didn’t really look interested, and or didn’t care about what was going on. Some were even on their phones during the mass, which is incredibly disrespectful. The majority of the students who had shown up where only there because their parents had forced them to go and not so much because they were aspiring to become better Catholics. It was an absolutely different environment to me, dealing with people who were so ignorant and clueless about my faith. When half the year was finally over, I noticed a difference in myself; I was happier and very relaxed. I first noticed when we had our first retreat. I was the type of person that didn’t like to participate, or even raise my hand to answer (despite knowing 100% I was right), let alone scream or sing; I was very shy and quiet. Our first retreat was at our church. We had other churches joining us that day for that event; it made me nervous realizing that other people I didn’t know would be there. When my brother and I got there, half of the place was full; eyes following us as we walked to our assigned table. We sat down and I saw everyone talking amongst each other. “I

If you had asked any of my peers for a description of who I am, they would have said that I was someone who was shy, and possibly even a bit awkward. This was a personality trait that I had been struggling with throughout the majority of my life. I had grown up as an only child, incessantly feeling out of place among my peers. It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year of high school that I gained the self-confidence I had only dreamed about.…

Before attending the Byzantine mass, I had little to no expectations about how the experience would go. Honestly, I did not even know that there was such a sect of the Catholic religion and I don't know any Byzantine Catholics. Once I decided to go, I was slightly nervous, but very intrigued and interested by what I would experience. I was a little worried that I…

Since, I can remember I have always been the shy, quiet type. I did not speak, unless spoken to, made friends, but never put effort in keeping them, because there was no point in keeping friends when I knew I would have to move the next school year or half way through the year; however, that all changed in the middle of my third grade year. IT happened. The BIG move. Well, not really.…

Thirteen hours on a ten passenger bus with twelve people inside. Whether or not that sounds fun to you, those thirteen hours went by quite fast. The group I traveled with consisted of three separate vans with an average of ten to twelve people inside of each, including the chaperones. The trip was a planned ride down to Chattanooga to partake in a week of Bible-related activities, as well as help out those people who are in need. The trip is hosted by Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and I had the honor of being able to be a part of the trip for two of the past three years.…

Catholicism has always interested me, since many of my friends growing up were Catholic. I was pleased to see this observation in the syllabus, because it gave me reason to explore this religion. I attended June 5, Saturday Mass at the Christ is King Church in Idaho Falls. I was a little nervous to go in, because I wasn’t really sure what to expect.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin and brought us new life through his death and resurrection. In my faith I stand as a Catholic, which means I believe in only one God. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…
