Ernest Cassidy was familiar with the tales and secrets of Putney Mountain having lived his entire life in the two story house in the quaint little town of Howardsville located southwest of Charleston, West Virginia. The town’s history was filled with myths and legends about missing people when they went on the mountain to explore the freaky activities. Two years ago I was a completely different person. That may sound like a complete exaggeration, but looking back on the person who carried my name two years ago, it is shockingly true. Two years ago, I was the quiet, overweight, anxious girl who avoided social interaction as if it was the plague. Needless to say, I was not the most confident or outgoing person out there. I let my anxiety disorder rule my life, and let my weight be an excuse as to why I couldn’t do certain things.…

The Dog By: jay I have been scared many times in my life but one scare left me afraid of a certain type of species since. In this event one person had to go to the hospital and the other (which was me) had to stay away from that house for a very long time. The event made me realized to fear or to stay away from a very common lesson in life. In a way I am thankful it happened because if otherwise, I would have been caught by a dog thinking all it would do was me in the face.…

My daily routine getting up early and walking the dog several miles, walking during my lunch break a few miles, taking the stairs, getting standing up every hour and take a few minute walk, and walk the dog several miles in the evening. I do not run; however, I walk very quickly. So quickly most have to jog to keep up with me. Due to the challenge and the nice weather I did take additional walks during the evening then typical. I figure with the extra sweets this time of the year and wanting to win the challenge the extra walks would be helpful.…

The Last Day Sweat was gleaming off my face as I finished lifting our couch into my mother’s van. It was a familiar action, we has always been moving around. We had held many houses for rent, each for one year at a time. We never stayed anywhere for long, presumably because nobody liked renting to single mothers with five kids. We were always drifters, seeking houses for rent and never having a permanent situation.…
