A little later in the week, once my Dad did return and I heard the screaming between both of my parents I learned the truth: my father had been arrested for the second time for driving under the influence of alcohol. I didn’t know what to feel at first. I felt ashamed, sad, angry and about ten other emotions all at once. My world changed drastically from that point on. Instead of a typical day with Dad dropping me off and picking me up from school, Mom had to do everything. At first I didn’t understand why, but then I spoke to both of my parents and I learned my father no longer had a license and he couldn’t drive me anywhere anymore. In order to keep working and continue to pay to send me to private school, my mother asked for help from her family. So everyday I went home with someone different, my entire routine was disrupted. I will never be able to thank my family enough for stepping in during a difficult time in my life. Instead of just giving up on sending me to a private school over 30 minutes away from my house, my mother figured it out. I got to keep my friends and finish out my middle school years relatively
