Personal Narrative: How Many People Learn

Decent Essays
Many people learn in different ways. Some may learn better by doing things hands on or some might learn better just reading from a book. People learned many lessons throughout their lifetime that makes them the person they are today. In everyday life we learn big and small lessons from everything. For example you learn things when you go to school and it makes you more educated on the topic. You could also be somewhere random like on the side of the interstate in right then and there you learn how to change a tire. For me, I have to be shown how to do something and then practice it to get it.

Kayleigh Underwood All throughout my life, I have faced many challenges. Some were more difficult than others, but I believe all of them have shaped me into who I am today. If I could take one lesson I learned in high school and never forget it, it would be that my challenges and the outcomes to these challenges do not define me. What defines me is how I respond to these challenges.…

I was born in 1984 and started school in 1989. Watching the movie The Bottom Line in Education 1980 to the Present, gave me a perspective of the Education system while I was growing up. I didn’t realize what my teachers and educators were subjected to. As a child I was very naive, which is what I was supposed to be. I never thought that my school was overcrowded or operating below any standards.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

Coming to Carleton in September I thought I had a decent grasp on general business know how and how business worked, but after taking this course I have learned how little I knew, and how much there was for me to learn. So far in the course I would say I have learned a ridiculous amount, from business language to the skills you need to have a successful interview. In this memo, I will be covering a number of lessons I have learned, and these fall into three categories. The first being what I learned from the course, mostly what I learned in lectures and doing Learnsmart questions. These lessons have been predominantly the knowledge I have acquired through the professor and the textbook.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

The Law of the Learner is when the teacher has taken it upon themselves to become responsible for the students learning. In order for a teacher to be considered great, it can only be determined by if the students are learning (Wilkinson, 1992, p. 18). Some teachers have the gift of teaching. It comes naturally to them, while others struggle. The Lord sprung teaching on me.…

My mother throughout my whole life has provided me with a sincere love of learning, which has affected my whole life. I can remember times when we went on our group nature walks to learn about nature. While on those nature walks, we learned about plants, trees, animals, and we even searched for bugs to collect! Also we would go out at night and look at the spectacular stars and even study the stars’ constellations or maybe even try to find owls while they were up at night and discover what type of owl they were by the sound of their hoot. We would visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and discover beauty and talent and learn about who these artists were and their life stories.…
