So along with my mother, I went into the supermarket. Three, five, ten, I watched as the items on the cart accrued. We had enough to make a well deserved lunch accompanied by a thirst quenching drink. Sandwiches, fruits and a snack, were placed in a paper bag. Anxious, I made my way to the first old man. “Is this for me” I heard him say. The look on his face screamed 1000 words. “Thank you, god bless you”. Those simple words were enough for me.
Experiences upon experiences shape me in ways that will forever stay with me as I grow up. If you don’t use what you have to spread positivity then what’s the point? I am forever grateful for the mother I have. She encourages me to reach out to those who are helpless, like the elders at the park. Struggle, overcome, struggle, overcome; that’s my motto. Years from now, I look forward to volunteering and also the feeling it brings me when I know that with just one simple act I am changing someone’s life and without them knowing, they are changing mine too.
