Improved Essays
What if? I used to ask myself this question a lot when I was younger. Since I was a child I was always off by myself to scared to talk to others not wanting to interact with anyone it was a huge problem, that I knew had to be fixed. Then came the summer before my start of high school and I promised myself I would fix being so shy was pulling me back. So I did just that, the next four years of High School were about to change my life drastically.
Middle School was rough to say the least. I kept to myself most of the time I had two close friends but even opening up to them was hard. I wasn't involved at school didn't join any clubs sports noting. I though about it but I just couldn't build he courage to do so. I just wasn't happy always thinking

Looking back on it, on how I got to where I am. I don't know how i did it, when you run into something ,with the power to knock you down- you get back up! I've considered myself a sort of mellow guy, but I can be very intense. It's funny because you can't tell by looking at me. Most people say they can't read me, but I think i am a fairly simple guy.…

The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. The habit of straying from the topic or theme could cause me to fail not only papers in English but my other courses as well. I personally had a hard time with English my first semester of college. In High school I was always at the top of my class and my teachers would tell me how great of a writer I was.…

For most students, the transition from middle school to high school is the evolution from childhood to adulthood. In my case, my middle school graduation was a quick transition for another reason. The first few months of my freshman year had my parents rushing my grandfather in and out of the hospital because of his failing heart. By this point my grandfather had battled off colon cancer, 3 heart attacks, and 2 open heart surgeries. At age 74 he was not a candidate for a heart transplant but he was able to get a defibrillator.…

Everybody changes once they enter high school. One of the ways I have changed once I entered high school was my personality I am not afraid to say what's in my mind. I have also changed the way I dress and look. My personality has changed because before I was in high school and I was in middle school I use to be very shy and quiet.…

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

I walked into the familiar main entrance of the school, crossing my arms and setting my face into what I thought was an intimidating glare. Although I looked like an angry toddler, with my round face and childish glower, my attitude came across very clearly: I was not happy at all to be back at school. After getting into a huge fight with my friend group earlier that year, I was starting high school essentially friendless. It wasn’t as if I didn’t have another group of people to fall back onto.…

Track and field has been the highlight of my high school life. The social aspect, the large assortment of events from which to choose, and the people I met are things I will always treasure. I especially loved the fact that there was always a place for everyone. If you weren’t too quick, then discus was your event. If you could build up quick bursts of speed, long and triple jumps suited you.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

It was the end of third grade and all of my friends and I were talking about who we wanted as a teacher the next year. Everyone wanted Mrs. Graham or Mrs. Friend because they were considered the “nicer” teachers. I didn’t really care who I had as long as they didn’t yell very much because it always scared me when they did that. I was the kid who always got upset when I saw that the teachers were yelling or mad at someone. My mom had told me that she didn’t request any certain teacher for me to have so it was going to be a surprise the next year when I found out.…

I remember my days in high school like it was yesterday. My freshman year I didn’t really know anyone at my school because I was new to the area. Once the school year got started I began to make friends and to be known around the school. So as most people say now I look like a basketball player, back in my younger days I used to play all sports like basketball, football, and baseball. So I had decided to try out for the basketball team.…

Every morning in grade eight, I would wake and throw on my white blouse, my rainbow plaid skirt, my matching plaid tie, my green knee high socks and my black leather shoes and go off to school. I wasn’t a good student throughout elementary school, I had breezed by at the bottom of my class. My grade eight English teacher even told my parents and I that I was going to fail high school English if nothing changed by next year. While everyone was studying with their SSAT tutors and stressing over high school applications, as if they were applying to the Ivy League. I applied to one school called Crestwood Preparatory College.…
