Personal Narrative: How Driving Changed My Life

Ever since I was a little child I could not wait until I was 16. I did not care about being 15 or 17 I always wanted to be 16. Turning 16 meant hanging out at the mall, being able to buy whatever I wanted, being a big kid and most importantly being able to drive. I always wanted to drive. To me driving seemed like the most exicting thing in the world. I could go wherever, whenever I wanted. Since my birthday is in the middle of july, it felt like everybody could drive but me. My friends would tell me all about driving, how much fun it is or how they could go wherever they wanted. The school year before my 16th birthday, I took highway safety to insure I would get my permit. The teacher would talk all about the benefits of driving. When the …show more content…
“ Of course!” I answered with much excitement. As we ran my friends who had already got their permit/license quized me. I answer as quickly as I could with the right answer. After practice I went home and took a shower, in the shower; With my permit I can drive, when I can drive I am an Adult. I was not ready to be an adult, I had only been on this planet for 16 years. I could not keep a cactus alive how was I able to keep myself alive. As I walked down stairs, I told my mom I was not ready to get my permit. She told me I was and dragged me along to the DMV. At the DMV I sat in my seat worrying not about my test, but being adult . A million thoughts raced through my head.” what if I fail?” “ what if I pass?” “ Do I have to get my permit?” “ Does this now make me adult?” My number was called and I went to take my test. I failed on the seventh question. I knew all the information, But I failed. I went home. My day went, I didn't have to be adult then. Two weeks later, I went back to the DMV and got my permit( with not getting a single question worng). I was still not 100 percent ready to be adult but I felt better about
