Bullying is something that 28% of students and children between the ages of 12-18 go through at least once a week. 120,000 kids do not attend school because of bullying, and I was one of those at a point in my life.
First, the bullying started out very small. Then it grew and grew, into small simple things that could have been prevented such as, name calling, dirty words, kicking, people throwing things at me. I would tell the teacher and she would blow me off like a piece of dust. It was embarrassing because I felt like a tattle-tail. So, I did

The one day that I never had thought would come. It was September 2012, a normal day at school. I was going to 2nd period and a guy that had been bullying me decided to push me towards the back of my “girlfriends” head, hurting her and me. I turned around and hit him right in his face, and began to push him back rambunctiously. In the meantime, a teacher pulled us apart and took us both to the office where I then get ISS (In School Suspension) for 1 full day.
Immediately after that, we moved to Fort Chiswell, VA to get the fresh start. Went to school for a couple of weeks, made new friends, and joined band hoping to find more friends. As expected, I did find new friends and made new relationships with different people. By then, I really felt rejuvenated and couldn’t wait to start this new journey!
Later on, I got a phone call from a friend of mine that would change my life forever. It was the phone call that no one expected or wanted to ever get. Some school mates where trying to commit suicide due to the situation of bullying. One had been successful in doing so. The others were taken into Intense care and were home schooled. 1 week later, the bullying rate for me personally began to rise again, but it wasn’t as big of an issue as

Bullying: Why It Happens The documentary Bully, directed by Lee Hirsch argues that bullying is an on-growing social problem occurring in America that is not receiving the acknowledgment it deserves. As we become more knowledgeable on the subject of bullying, we can notice how the effects it has on both the victim and the bully can be dangerous. In his article, “Bullying”, John Greenya suggests that the connection between bullying and school violence has become a growing problem that schools aren't doing enough to prevent. He does this by first explaining that “today, bullying is widely regarded as a serious problem in the United States”, then by stating “bullying not only begets depression and suicide but also serious crime, researchers say, not to mention poor academic performance, truancy and higher dropout rates” (Greenya). Greenya finally describes how “in the past, bullying has simply been dismissed as ‘Kids will be kids,’ but the findings from this study suggest that…

The documentary, Bully, follows five children, from elementary school to high school, and offers an intimate viewpoint on the topic of bullying, and how it affects young children and their families. My overall reaction to this documentary was an initial feeling of sadness. Sadness for the children who have been affected by bullying in the documentary, and sadness for all of those who have been affected by bullying in their lives. This feeling soon turned into a concoction of disappointment, anger, and overall confusion. Disappointment and anger in the fact that children in today’s society feel the need to verbally and physically attack others, and disappointment in the way that bullying is handled by teachers, parents, and administration.…
