Personal Narrative: How Art Changed My Life

Decent Essays
Throughout my life, I could never believe how I survived when I was little because I was born premature along with my twin. I was treated badly in school because I was Asian and my dad always traveled a lot so it was just my mom taking care of me, my twin, and my brother. I was scared to show who I really was because I knew kids in school would tear me down no matter what I liked or do. One day, my class did painting in kindergarten and that was when my life changed ever since. I came home everyday asking for my family too sign me up for art classes. My mom did not have enough money to pay for art classes because she was saving money for my education so I dreamed of learning more about different kinds of art and that was until I reached middle school where I took art electives in school.
My life was still rough because I was dealing with a lot of issues going on in my family, my grades, and friends leaving me, but art was my passion and I was finally waiting for the chance to pursue my dreams . Doing art was the only thing that made me go through the struggles that I had and in the

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

My world is amazing, on occasion, that is. I have lived in a little town named Desert Hot Springs for all the seventeen years of my life, I have done everything there is to do, I have seen everything there is to see, is what I thought before. I have since then acquired a completely different view towards this little town. I have also since then found what I believe I am good at, Photography. Photography allows me to see something I like that…

I currently live in a small beach town right outside of Jupiter, Florida known as Hobe Sound. It’s a “drive by town” as I would describe it. There really isn’t anything there would attract or gravitate people to stay there; its better to just look at it out a car window well passing it. It is currently about six hours outside of Tallahassee, Florida. This seems really long, but originally I signed to go to University of Mississippi and later realized that being more than ten hours away from home was to much for me.…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

Using Schumann’s translation and interpretation of Eckhart’s philosophy of existence and being, one can connect these to moments in life that constitute what he calls “operative identity”, characterized by actions that are without motive that reveal who we are and that we are existent beings, while also suggesting that God is a necessary being. One example from my own life would be the creation of artworks throughout my life. Although beginning with the motive of a grade in high school, the action of art became a much more important event in my life that did not require any reasons or motives. This is portrayed in the connection between Schurmann’s terms combustion, releasement, and living with or beyond a why.…

I Believe Would you believe me when i told you that a young man at the age of 16 would be on the cover of youtube’s trending page, reaching over 6 million views and then a year later start his first international tour? Well Hugo Leclercq (A.K.A. Madeon) would prove you wrong. This young producer has quite the track record and I’d say he is the embodiment of talent. My first experience with art was an obsession with how I could photograph a flower, its beauty shown through my great lack of technique and knowledge of photography. This experience was important because it allowed me to start to see the world through an artist’s eye. With more exploration I moved beyond the flower and began photographing other subjects. What I was photographing was mostly nature, very clichéd imagery. I fell into the trap that many High School students do.…

The arts have had perhaps the biggest impact on my life thus far, especially theatre. I started theatre as a way of escape. I was being bullied at the time and had developed some social anxiety, but acting was a liberation from these things. As time went on, I grew more confident, the bullying stopped, and I found that rather than escaping into the personality of a character, I could be myself. The social anxiety still remained, but the positive effects of the arts have stayed with me for years and will stay with me for many more.…

Patient is a word that most people define as being good at waiting for things or suppressing annoyances. Google's definition is being able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. To me, this word goes so much deeper than tolerating annoyances. It defines parts of me. My definition of patient is the ability to forgive and understand while being calm and gentle.…

During that time period of my life I used painting and drawing as an outlet for my anxiety. As the years passed art became more to me than just an outlet but a passion that ignited new ideals and encouraged new aspirations for my life. Although my family wanted the best for me they resisted the idea of me growing up. As a way to escape from my family's constraints I joined art club at my local middle school. It was the first step out…

Even in high school, when I discovered about Painting Club, my heart made a leap. The club was a great way to relieve my stress from school work and lose myself to the brush strokes. In Painting Club, I painted my worries away and focused on my imaginations coming to life. It was fascinating to watch the picture gradually fill up the blank canvas like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle coming together into an unexpected image.
