Personal Narrative: Horton Hears

I don’t believe that I was ever as excited or nervous as I was that night. My room seemed heated; I don’t know if it was from all the lights and curling irons I had on or if it was the anticipation of the night before me. A sea of clothes that I had decided just wouldn't do concealed the floor and shoes were strewn everywhere. After finally deciding to wear my blue sweater, the one Mom told me brought out my eyes, I drowned myself in Justin Biebers' Boyfriend perfume, and I was ready for my first date.
When I got to the food court where I was meeting him, I sent a text "I’m here :)", I didn't get a response. I then began to walk around searching for a head of curly blonde hair, I caught a glimpse of him sitting among his best friend, Scott

After sitting silently, witnessing their conversation, I got the hint that Scott and Vanessa would be joining us at the movies- a circumstance that I had been entirely unaware of. Awkwardly, we strolled across the food court into the movie theater as we listened to Vanessa and Scott argue about whether or not going to see Horton Hears a Who would be childish or not. "No. No. A million times no! I am not going to see Horton Hears a Who on my first date!”, I was thinking while trying to play it cool in front of his friends. The three of them decided on a movie about superheroes and I couldn't object; how could I? I was out on a double date with the coolest guy in school! He had chosen me- the dorky little 7th grader who they called George the Giant- there was no room for …show more content…
“Maybe he'll do the cliché yawn and stretch to put his arm around me. Maybe he'll hold my hand during the intense parts.” However the only thing that became intense was my longing to go home because just then, Vanessa pulled out from her purse two Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwiches. She proceeded to open four packets of mayonnaise and used her fingers to spread them on the sandwiches. To top it all off she then licked the mayonnaise from her fingers quite loudly and then gobbled down the sandwiches in fury. I have ever been so embarrassed to be with someone at a movie theatre.
At last, the movie was over and I was released from my agonizing date. The date was nothing like they portray in the movies; I could not believe my first date had gone so badly. I can honestly say to this day, I have never had another date quite like that. I guess first dates are supposed to be memorable. In fact, I can see that date brought up for my kids, grandkids someday. Hopefully at that time, I will find it as amusing as I’m sure they

I interviewed Jerry, Faith Green, Paul, Ms.Darshan, and Mr. Hanke. They were all very helpful because Faith and Jerry were IPoly students and I felt that I could really relate to them because I still haven't decided what I'm going to be. Ms. Darshan explained to us that we need to be responsible for our selves and that some textbook prices vary because they all cost a lot. Paul gave us advice in if we weren't sure what we are going to do we should find a common class that the careers I want to pursue have in common. Mr. Hanke told us that we need to stay focused in school because some people who try different things and don't get into it change who they want to be very quickly.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

When our friends invited my hubby and me to the movies for New Year’s Eve, we weren’t sure we were up for the adventure. After a beautiful Christmas season, we were tired, but regardless of our weariness we agreed to go. They reserved tickets to the movie, Fences, which I had vaguely heard of. I knew Denzel Washington starred in it, but nothing more. To be honest, I struggled with this movie.…

“Greasers can 't walk alone too much or they 'll get jumped, or someone will come by and scream "Greaser!" at them which doesn 't make you feel too hot if you know what I mean. ” ~ The Outsiders, Chapter 1, Page 2. This quote which kicks off the book helps to bring together what the narrator and main character Ponyboy character is as a Greaser. The Greasers are what the East side poor kids of Tulsa, Oklahoma with their slicked back long greased hair and switch blades, are called, kind of like hoodlums who stick up for each other. On the other hand the Socials or how it 's shortened it in the book Socs (it is pronounced So-Shis) are the West side rich kids with fancy cars and lots of free time, which they use to jump greasers.…

The day seemed to drag on and on, as I waited, counting down the days to California. It was a humid, sunny afternoon down at the Alton pool, where I usually spend most of my summer days working as a lifeguard. Today was very different than most…. And maybe the reason why was because it was my last day of work before I flew off to the big L.A. Most days at the pool the time went by slower than any I have ever known, with the scorching hot sun burning my skin, and little kids yelling at their friends telling each other secrets or what they want to play next.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
