In fifth grade, I started taking riding lessons. Once a week, I went to a nice barn to learn how to stay on top of a horse, and I learned how to braid a mane and tail and how to take apart and put together a bridle. When I entered middle school, I entered a new side of the horse world. My neighbor, who owned the horse with a huge head, still had horses and I quickly began to learn how different horses could be kept.…

I once thought I couldn’t believe in myself! I felt as if I were nothing but a sheet of glass that was completely useless. When there were gloomy days, I felt like broken glass that was scattered all over the ground and I wouldn’t be fixable. So I thought if I joined a sport, I would then, have no choice but to believe that I can do more and accomplish more, and be better than whom I was! When I was little I loved to run…

I’m starting over again anew something different now. The last run was great while it lasted. Day one back at practice was pretty rough, hitting balls endlessly at the range brought upon old bad habits. It made me realize how far away I was from my former swing, the consistency, strength, and concentration it had brought me. I had now found myself with a rugged backswing and an upbeat tempo.…

My legs feel like they are falling off.…

Junior Rider: Lauren Kinley is a fantastic rider that I admire for her sportsmanship. In the past year, she has had one horse go lame (at Finals), one get sent to Michigan State, and one pass away. She has had everything go wrong that possibly could go wrong, and she keeps the most level head about it. She never pulls the sympathy card and never allows herself to be seen as a victim.…
