It all started around five am, we all started to pile up into the jeep. While everyone stumbled around like drunken zombies, I was wide awake and pumped up. I grabbed my blanket, my pillow, and my snacks and hopped in. Our first stop was up at Casey’s for drinks, so that we could begin our four hour long journey to the camp grounds. Jess turned up the radio, I stared out the window and listened to the music for the first 30 minutes of the ride. We had packed the jeep the night before. I had put my phone, my reading book, my headphones, and the book i was writing in the jeep for something to do on the drive. Mom drove, Jess rode shotgun, Alexis and I had window seats, and Darren was in the middle. Jess was rocking out to her music, Darren …show more content…
After a while we stopped at Mcdonalds and ate breakfast then continued on. I tried to write my book, but couldn't find any inspiration. Darren fell back to sleep on Alexis but she pushed him off and I offered him my pillow which kept him from leaning on us. Finally we arrived at the camp site. We helped set up the tent that Alexis, Mom, Jess, and I were sharing, then set up Darrens tent. we opened the tent windows to air out the tents. We put all of our things in the tent. My mom and Jess were sharing an air mattress in the middle of the tent, an Alexis and I had beds beneath the windows. After a while Beth, Travis, Abby, and Darriean arrived. after we set up their tent we ate sandwiches, changed into our swimsuits, then went to johnson shut-ins. We broke away from the adults and I was faster than the rest, so I was way ahead. The water's current was strong and the rocks were slippery and sharp. I climbed up a rock and went down it into a drop off, the drop off was deeper than I had expected. I hit my foot going down, the water rushing over the rock pushed me down as I tried swimming up and I hit my head, and lost my breath. Instinctively I inhaled but all I got was water, I tried again before realizing I needed to close my mouth and try not to

After putting on our bright pink leotards and ballet shoes, which trust me we're not the most fashionable, we went out to the car to wait on Dianna’s mom. I should mention it was still raining as if the earth would flood outside, this made it slightly hard to hear but we ran out to the car anyway. Me, Dianna, and Dalton bolted through the door, sprinting to the car that Dianna had unlocked with the small remote. The cold rain made the humid, hot day not feel as bad as the rest of that summer had been, which was dry and hot. When we got into the car we sat for a bit but then Dianna decided she wanted to turn on the music so she jumps to the front seat of the car.…

We shopped and had a good time, we ate then complained about how full we were, but our greatest challenge was getting home. Karlie drove us home from Little Rock, and it was the most terrifying event. We ran off the road multiple times, ran two red lights, and nearly scraped the construction walls, but made it out alive. I wake to the same blank walls that greet me every morning, a sleek silver alarm chirps sharply, waiting to be switched off. I slip out of scratchy wool blankets, pushing a small button to silence the alarm that has served its purpose for today. I press a small grey notch in the wall next to my tiny cot to reveal a minimal closet that holds a few dull articles of clothing. The routine of getting ready every morning is so well practiced that I do it now without much thought at all, allowing my mind to wander in daydreams as I perform the monotonous tasks.…
