Personal Narrative: High School Should Be Paid

Improved Essays
Who is this in my parking spot? Where am I supposed to park? I can’t park in someone else's space and make them angry. I don’t wanna get a white slip from the office saying I owe twenty dollars for parking in someone else's space. I can't be late to class. I guess i'll have to park in someone's space and hope the office doesn’t catch me. If I do get caught I don’t have money to pay a ticket. I don't even have 20 dollars for gas. Just because someone goes to school and parks in a different space they should not be charged 20 dollars for it. What if they don't have the money. What if they don't even have enough money for gas. So they drive to school, so they don't have to ride the bus for two hours every morning. At the beginning of every year …show more content…
That's why i find it ridiculous to have to pay forty dollars. The school claims the money is going towards the upkeep of the parking lot. At Least that is what I was told. But in the last four years of my highschool career only one thing has been done they paid money to have speed bumps put in or did the government; i don't know? Wheres all this money going? Let's say 300 students park on campus and all pay 40 dollars. If you multiply 300 by 40, guess how much that is? That's a whopping and i mean whopping TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS why do they need that much money that on top of school fees about doubles it. It's beyond ridiculous that a school which you have to attend forces you to pay for parking or instead if you caught you get a twenty dollar ticket with the office forces you to pay or you can't graduate. However, many people still purchase parking passes and they still get tickets how you ask? Say if someone was parked in your space that you paid for you have no idea who it is so you park in another open space the office can give you a ticket for that and when you try to explain to them why. They don't care about your opinion; all they care about is getting their money. Okay lets add up money i believe school fees are 35 …show more content…
Also so you can tell if you have paid the fee it should be listed on powerschool. And to reassure everyone has paid. You should start a list for each grade and all student 16 and up who obtain a license should be automatically billed for the parking fee. Why you ask ? Because everybody knows if the person got a licence, they gonna be rolling up in a car at school sometime in the school year. I think that's a very good ideal plan and structure for the school. Another thing is School lunch it is so nasty nobody wants to eat it. And nobody wants to buy it stop charging or get some better food because we all know the government has enough money to pay for our food. BY the way i'm just putting this out there that i got mashed potatoes the other day and they smelt straight up like a gas station bathroom that is around 8 square feet which has a toilet that hasn't been flushed in 5 hours. I mean really? Come on, the one good thing offered and now i'm paranoid to get it. Get some better food.We all know the school can afford it. Better yet put the money that magically disappears from parking fees. And get some better food paid for with that. Do something for the students and stop making all of us hate school. The fees never end charging for prom that's crazy. Do it in the gym.

Free parking? It sounds like an idea too good to be true, and that’s because quite possibly, it is. At least that’s what Donald Shoup argues in “Yes, Parking Reform is Possible”. A public policy which allows an extensive amount of parking in a crowded city at little to no cost, regardless of budgets or consequences, will have serious negative effects to a community. Shoup predicts that we can achieve major social, economic, and environmental advantages at virtually no expense merely by subsidizing people and places, rather than parking.…

If the city must obtain the user fee through the income of individuals working in the city, a small tax would be much more fair than a flat fee. No longer would you have some people paying ten percent of their income to the fee like RAs while Professors and Administrators barely notice the three-dollar fee. At the very least they could implement a student exemption so students who are trying to work their way through college would not lose this small, but significant, fee. Another possible alternative to the fee is a very small sales tax. This tax would ensure that all who pay the fee are using the city service and would equate to a more fairly distribute cost as those who earn and consume the most would pay the highest fee.…

Taking away a student's license is not fair. Not to mention the fact that a car and a license has nothing to do with grades and/or keeping your grades up. To be able to maintain steady grades that are higher than a 2.00 GPA, a kid has to attend school (having a license plays a huge role in this), pay attention in class, and just put in effort. Also, teachers are at school to help us learn, not to take a license away from us. If a teacher cares that much about a student's’ grade, they would come up with a better ultimatum that was more academically related.…

We all know that school provided lunches aren’t very good, so why not leave school for lunch? Students are always complaining about how bland as well as small school lunches are, so the best option to fix these complaints is to have an open lunch. Food isn’t just a basic component of survival, it’s also one of the many things that makes life enjoyable; but school lunches are neither nutritious or pleasing to eat. Open lunch should be allowed in Augusta High School because there are many benefits to it like more food options, boosting the local economy, and practicing time management skills. Students all need very nutrient dense meals since they are all both growing and expanding their knowledge.…

If you witness people in the streets of Athens slamming car doors, throwing keys, sprinting to class, or kicking car doors–don’t be alarmed! These are the sights and sounds of students displaying anger because trying to park legally for an extended period of time at Ohio University is like trying to park legally in a “filled” parking garage-nearly impossible. Students agree, having a car on and around campus isn’t worth this frustration or expense! “Parking is by far the worst issue on the Athens campus. If you have a car, leave it at home because your frustration will lead you to park illegally; and hence, you’ll find yourself paying excessive fines in parking tickets,” said Jake Luken, a fourth-year student in the college of Business Finance.…

Since students has to pay additional fees in their tuition, the university can use that money to build more parking lots instead of throwing pizza parties or giving students free tickets at the student union. By taking advantage of such a high student tuition, the university could easily raise enough money through parking tickets, fundraising, additional fees, donations, state funding, and student support. According to Cassie Soto from The Rebel Yell, “Parking pass prices will be going up in Fall 2015 and will increase again in 2018.” It is true that the cost of parking tickets increases ten percent every year but why? The parking lot gets worse as the years pass by because there are more incoming freshmen.…
