“Hey Mom and Dad, could we get a dog?” I questioned, hoping to get a reasonable response. They look at each other, while my sisters and I stand there fidgeting excitedly. We had been wanting a dog for a long time. As a result of being older and more responsible, We were hoping to get a dog. “I’m not sure. We can talk about it, and then if we think you could take on the responsibility, we will look into it,” my Mom recited. I was anticipating that they would say no, being we had asked before but never gotten the answer we wanted. Excited we hadn’t been told no, Sarah Kate, Rachel, and I left the room.
