Personal Narrative: Hershey Day

Improved Essays
I can feel the heaviness behind my eyes. I had woken up early for school today, and I was ready to nap as I pushed my way into my house, but I couldn’t today. Today is the Cocoa Bean! The highly anticipated football game between the two local rivals of Milton Hershey and Hershey High School. As I race down the stairs to my room my bed calls out to me in a tempting manner but I have important things to get to.
I pull out the giant bright orange t shirt that I got for the 2013 Bean and placed it on the floor. I smoothed out each crease until it was perfect I stood over it analyzing it before I kneeled down next to the ugly shirt. I held the bottom of the shirt in my hand and made a clean cut across the midsection of the shirt. The first cut

My best friend, Lindsey, was waiting for me outside in her matching obnoxious orange jersey.
“McDonald's before the game?” She asked. I eagerly nodded as I was starving. All I had eaten that day was energy drinks and some fries at lunch. We made the quick stop at the McDonald’s down the street and we were on our way to the arena.
The line was thankfully short when we arrived as we finally made our way up to the ticket booths. We had just missed kick off and the start of the game, but that was ok. We didn’t come for the game. The Cocoa bean is the place to hang out and have fun in the bleacher. I have never watched a single football game. After buying our tickets Lindsey and I walk through the gates, but go our separate ways because we have different friend groups we hang out with.
I make my way up to the highest corner of the bleachers where I’m greeted with happy screams from my friends. I jog up the steps to the top and I’m handed another energy drink, and the fun begins. We’re all running back and forth yelling and joking. We spend the night talking about inside jokes and throwing around a few open water

11:00 am I wake up to a perfectly clean room with a perfect breakfast: sausage, pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls all sitting right next to my bed. I eat my breakfast and get ready for the day. I go downstairs to see my friends Austen, Zach, and Elias down there holding four tickets to the Super Bowl game tonight and a jet sitting outside in the field. I had slept in a little past what we had planned on leaving by but it didn’t matter too much we still had plenty of time to do what we wanted to.…

Standing there on the street, I stood staring up to a hundred giant football players walking by me. As I held the rope that the football players walked through, I stretched out my hand to try and high five as many of them as I could. One… two…three…twenty-seven…twenty-eight…twenty-nine! Each one of them pranced by while the drum line marched them on to the beat of the fight song. Standing there looking up at the enormous football players, I avidly wondered what it would be like to walk through this crowd to go play at Highlander Stadium.…

We were leaving the house and, of course, running behind. I forgot to pack my gear, didn’t wake up in time to eat breakfast, and was tired. When my family had finally gotten into the car it was an hour after we had originally planned to leave. After about an hour and a half of driving, we stopped at McDonalds for lunch and then again at a gas station so that we could all use the restroom. The original plan was to go check in at the hotel before going to the game, but that just was not possible anymore.…

The day was hot! It was the middle of July in Texas after all and the time was about 4:00pm almost the hottest part of the day, and although, it was in the mid-90s, the humidity made it feel like it was in the upper 100s. Before I went to the World Series, I thought it was a joke, but I guess not because on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH was where the World Series was. I was more ecstatic than ever going to the World Series. When we got there, we had to choose our seats because it was standing room only(SRO). We chose our seats in foul ball territory, just about 15 feet away from the foul pole in left field. The game started and a country band named “Locash” sang the “Star Spangled Banner”, even fireworks shot up into the air making a crackling sound.…

For the Love of the Game The smell of the dirt and the fresh cut grass fills my nose and sends a tingling sensation throughout my entire body. I crunch on sunflower seeds in the corner of the stone dugout and then repeatedly spit the soggy shells at my teammates, forcing smiles to ripple across their faces. I tie up my muddy laces on my worn out Under Armour cleats and head for the dugout exit as I pop a piece of Dubble Bubble into my mouth. On the way, I grab my matte black helmet and my favorite Demarini bat, leaning up against the towering chain-link fence.…
