My Calf Scramble Project My calf scramble journey started well before I actually filled out the paperwork to participate, see my two older brothers both scrambled before me! So naturally I was destined to follow in their footsteps and that I did. My two older brothers are now in college and the heifers that they purchased through the calf scramble program have helped them to establish a nice source of income while they are in college, plus I get to reap the benefits of the quality cattle that they purchased because those mommas are raising some show quality babies that I am getting the opportunity to show. Leading up to my scramble night in Houston my brothers offered advice on securing my catch, thankfully track practice had started in school…
As I look up at the sky, which is blood red like the sun stabbed it so it could get away from its eternal partner,I begin to hear the horrible noises of these sky creatures. Their horrible squealing draws everything's attention because it sounds the an incantation to summon the devil from the pits of the underworld. The howling wind joins in trying to make the summoning happening quicker but instead it makes me feel like my ears are going to bleed and starts to cast a sleeping spell on anyone caught in this siren song. The trees become alive to this bewitching tunes as their rodent inhabitants begin to run around trying to attack one another like wolves attacking a deer. Next door the neighbor’s rowdy brats come outside, probably because this is their favorite tune, with their wild and atrocious dog to play game of run around and destroy the yard or as most call it fetch.…
One night at the Sleepy Hollow there was this school teacher that came to visit and he has been warned to not go out past witching hour because every night the headless horseman goes out in search for his head Ichabod tryed to keep it together and not get too scared over the Headless horseman he hears something random one night. He says w---hh-oo is there? He takes off and I just knew something bad was going to happen .He gave a few fierce, meaningful kicks to the horse that he was riding and the horse took off forwards. He looks back and sees what we all knew what it was The Headless Horseman!…
I worked at Ahead with Horses at Sullivan Canyon for my community service. Ahead With Horses is an organization that helps many different disabled people, mostly kids, to help them overcome some aspects of their disability. Ahead With Horses throws many different activities like fairs and parties that many of the clients attend. They have a “horse show” where the kids walk around on the horses and sit in different places on the saddle. Ahead with Horses goal is to help disabled, disadvantaged and special-needs children by providing developmental therapy, education and recreation through horseback riding.…
Joseph Campbell was a scholar who studied ancient mythology for many years . Years later he soon came up with the concept the Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey are the stages a hero must come across to meet the reward he will soon discover. I am not a hero , but I have encountered many things to make me a better football player. Everyday I come across some of these stages to get me to my biggest reward.…
Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…
This morning was the best day of my life. I woke up and hear nothing outside from little Red Chief. I got up so quickly from my bed and start jumping for joy. He was gone out my life for good and never coming back. After this I went town to enjoy the blue sky and see everybody have happy look there faces.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…
The stage of a hero's journey I associate with to the most is stage five. I associate with this because I meet new people every day and some turn out to be a whole lot friendlier than others. As a result of this, I have made numerous allies and enemies throughout the years. One example is that in second grade I was transferred to another class along with two other girls. Those two girls ended up being my best friends for six years.…
It was a sunny day, we pulled up our car near the barn so we could help unloading equipment and horses. This was an important competition for me that I hoped to do well on. I tied my horse's halter on a loop built into the trailer and started to groom my horse. Shortly after i was approaching the competition rink and i could here my number being called. My heart was pounding as I pushed my horse into the rink, i was thinking of myself that this could go either way now good or bad.…
My experience with the after school book club at Madison Elementary today was an exciting yet my patience was tested by a seven year old little boy named Jose. Today I was excited to see if my group would enjoy the book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” due to the fact everyone agreed they enjoy reading adventure books. Consequently, one of my group members, Jose, had already read the book and watched the movie and let the whole group know it was “boring.” Already bored he instantly lost interest in the book and the group and was making it known by distracting the other group members around him. Usually his partner in crime, Gilbert, agrees with him and goes along with him but this time was different and he ignored his friend because he was actually…
It all ended on a Monday in Utah at exactly 7:15 pm. When I describe myself as a white haired, red eyed, and average weight and height 15 year old people think I'm albino. Its actually the opposite I'm a bit tanned in fact. Well after deciding to walk around the park for ten minutes I decided to go home. By then it was 7:10 pm and after walking for another five minutes I took a breather.…
Have you ever wanted to just give up on someone? Did they make you angry or upset? Well my horse did exactly that when he threw me off and broke my wrist. I was so angry and upset at him, I just wanted to get rid of him. I didn’t work him for 3 months and had to retrain him under saddle.…
