After the game, Jessica’s dad ran over to the girls and congratulated them with hugs and high fives. “Awesome game girls, let's sit in the shade and get some fluids.” Amanda and Jessica followed him to a shady spot near the tree and stripped off their socks and shoes. They knew better than to run around in the sun and heat when they had three more games ahead of them, and they definitely knew that they shouldn’t argue with their coach. Their hour break was flew by; the girls lounged in the shade and shared headphones. Jess had just gotten a new Dr. Dre tape and listened to music to pass the time.
The next game started strong, the other team had talent and the game was scoreless until about the third inning. Jess had nailed a triple deep on the right field line and stole home for the first score. After her triple, it was like she ripped open a bag of hits. The girls rallied six runs that inning and defeated the other team. Two wins down, two more to go!
The third game started immediately after the second game. A chubby lady with frosted pink lips waddled over to the umpire mumbling about possible thunderstorms and that they wanted to try to get in as much softball before the rain hit. The rain at that point

The first three innings had flown by and the game remained scoreless. Amanda was pitching and Jessica was catching and they were on fire, striking out almost every batter and throwing out girls who were lucky enough to get on base. They lived for this type of intensity and competition, thriving from it, growing and striving to win the game at all costs. The bottom of the seventh inning and the teams prepare to go into extra innings until Amanda hits a triple. With two outs, the coach tells her that he wants her to steal home as he is going to have the batter bunt the ball. The pitcher throws the ball and Amanda takes off at full speed into home, sliding under the tag and winning the
