Happiness Is Not Found on a Roller Coaster

“Second thoughts? Too late. Get ready to scream!” The booming voice said over the speakers. Everyone around new this meant another car was about to take off for an intense ride on the timeless roller coaster, California Screamin'. In just a few seconds they would be off, gone to travel over the track in a bright blur. The screams enclosed the car with the force of adrenaline as it appeared and disappeared in a flash. I heard the happy and terrified screams of the people on the coaster and the booming voice of the ones controlling it while strolling around Paradise Pier in Disneyland with my family. At this point, I hadn't been on the roller coaster yet. I preferred to keep myself on the ground and not on the coaster going up side down into crazy drops. My parents however, really wanted to go on so they left me with my nine year old brother Ryan. Ryan and I headed towards the dock and waited for our parents' car to come by. They were smiling and holding on tight, just waiting to take off. We stood on the dock and waved good bye along with several others yelling to their friends and family. Our goodbyes were

I saw the cloudless blue sky. I saw the Ferris wheel moving up and around, allowing its riders to look across the park. I saw families walking around together; laughing, eating, and smiling. I watched as the coaster went around the loop, accompanied by more screams. I saw the Tower of Terror in the distance, knowing people were on that ride right now screaming and falling in the dark. That only made me laugh harder. I remember the feeling of exhilaration, as the world was so happy and bright, so unlike anywhere else. It was an innocent joy that bounced off the water and made you

A buzzer rang and the gates clicked open as the last riders filed out of the deathtrap. All of us walked to the cars with wobbly legs, got situated in the car and buckled in. I turned around to catch Abby’s eyes crazed with excitement behind me, I turned back around facing the front and saw Baylee looking back at me with an evil smirk on her face. Time officially stood still. Quietly, I sighed under my breath, “I don’t think I can do this.” However, just as I said this the spiritless roller coaster attendant strapped me in permanently ensuring I couldn’t back out.…

I was so excited to ride a roller coaster. Dad and I hopped in and the coaster took off. Once we got to the top of the first drop, my dad looked at me and said “why did you talk me into this?” BAM! The coaster was off in a vertical drop. Shaking and throwing us around, it was not the most pleasant ride.…

As they dragged me up the steps to the ride, I saw the rollercoaster fly past us with people screaming and yelling. They were having the fun I wish I could have. I quickly looked down, and my body unable to be controlled by my brain, tried to turn around and walk back down, but my friends took my arm and dragged me towards the ride. I needed to get over my fear, but I couldn’t stop imagining the rollercoaster breaking down mid-ride, leaving me stuck there for hours. The more I thought about my fear, the more I got distracted about getting on.…

One of my most learning experiences was at Six Flags Great America. As we entered the gates to the park, everyone was excited, except for me. Because, I made a promise that I was not sure that I could keep. As I got further into the park my ears were being filled with the screams of terror and thrill. But, I ignored that because the only thing I could focus on was the big orange roller coaster, “The Raging Bull”…

So I decided to explore the magnificent park and go on some more attractions. I would just walk up to any attraction and get in the line and the overly nice and always smiling employees would let me on the ride. I do not blame them; maybe seeing a small child alone is normal to them. I was having the time of my life, with my heart pumping rapidly with excitement and the adrenaline rushing through my veins. I even went on the Haunted Mansion ride even though I was alone.…

Then still in total darkness, all of a sudden, we were jerked hard to the left and started uphill. Then, as fast as a race car, we went down the hill and up another. This time, after we climbed up the hill we turned right and flew into a loop. Meanwhile, we still could not see what was coming up next. After the fast loop, going as fast as a spaceship, we turned left, then right and then another upside down loop, the entire time everyone is yelling and laughing out of joy.…

One of the biggest roller coasters in the park! I pushed myself to get on it with Sadie so we could ride all of the rides before it was time to go. We walked up, the line was super long but it went by quickly. We got buckled in and *chuga chuga screech* then the roller coaster started to go up the first hill ever so slowly. Before I knew it there we went so quickly and we were thrown into the first loop.…
