Personal Narrative: Hannah Sugar Is My Dog

Decent Essays
It was a chilly February afternoon, as I got off the bus and heard the news I never wanted to hear. I knew this day would come but I didn't want it to be so soon. "Hannah sugar is stumbing, her leg is getting worse." All I could do is cry. "Isn't there something Kaleb can do for her!"
Sugar is my horse that I have had since I was able to walk. She was my show horse for a few years until she hurt her leg. She was 27 years old and still kickin it. She was my best friend. When I heard there was nothing that Kaleb could do to help her I was heartbroken. That meant she had to be put down.
My grandma and step dad had hired someone to put her down. My grandma told me I might want to go say goodbye to her. So i put my hoodie on and went outside.

I slouched at the table in the boring, gray counselor's room, headphones squeezing my ears, as I did my first hearing and vision screening. The counselor played a series of beeps, and I gave a thumbs up for every time I heard something. Before I knew it, the test was over, and I walked out without giving any further thought to the screening. I had no reason to, as my mom had explained to me earlier that this was simply a mandatory, routine check-up, nothing to worry about. Soon, I was back in my beloved kindergarten class, learning how to spell, read, and write.…

My family and I still didn’t accept that fact that she was gone forever, it seemed like another day for us like if she was at her house preparing food for her children or cleaning her house. As we arrived to church, that’s when it really hit me that she was gone and I started feeling a weird feeling inside my stomach since I was really nervous of having to see her inside that coffin. Walking towards her coffin was really hard for me since it’s a very sad and hurtful experience that no one like to go through. I started to tear down as soon as I saw her 3 children cry for her.
