Personal Narrative: Hannah Marie Gentry

Improved Essays
Long dirty blonde hair and shiny green-blue eyes, a beautiful smile to enchant anyone, a laugh to intoxicate you, and stories to keep you interested for hours on end, she is the greatest friend that anyone could really have. She’s been with me through thick and thin and if we argue, we get over it like nothing had happened. Her stubborn attitude and how she goes about daily life is what makes her and I complete opposites. Though all of these are true, they are reasons why she is both my best friend and the one person who has impacted me the most in my life. Her name, is Hannah Marie Gentry. Ever since the first grade when she protected me from bullies, a heroic act, we’ve been inseparable. For more than seven years we’ve been through so much …show more content…
Hannah has always been the most innocent and sweet person I’ve known and it’s a miracle I still have her around to this day. She’s helped me through multiple panic attacks and breakdowns that I have no clue how she still keeps a cheery spirit. Plus, even without my interruptions she has so much on her plate that when she makes time to hang out, it’s always time well spent with her. She’s simply the best. Nine times out of ten we disagree and argue, but we manage to always compromise and move on. We’re both stubborn, however in different ways and when they clash it’s always an epiphany if anything gets resolved. There has never been a time where there has never been a problem solved between us. Every problem we have ends up being blown over the shoulder and just water under the bridge. That is the best part about our friendship; we never hold grudges against each other. Tears have shed and hugs have been given so much over the years and I wouldn’t trade that for anything else in the world. Hannah is the best person to have ever stepped into my life that if I lost her now, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. We have typical fights here and there but those will never plunder any of the strings we have connected to each other. Without her, I wouldn’t be the same person that I am

“I did not personally know Hannah, but as someone who struggled with demons of their own, I am horrified that we cannot honor one of our own because of how this beautiful soul passed,” creator Ericka Chang-Kalandros wrote in the petition. Chang-Kalandros wrote that while Hollis’ death was a tragedy, her life was a blessing. The yearbook staff sought to “honor her beautiful life rather than romanticize her death.” “The stigmas surrounding mental illness have never been more prevalent in our school than right now,” Chang-Kalandros wrote.…

For my friend Leah’s birthday, her husband gifted her a series of pottery-making lessons. In the weeks prior to her starting these lessons, she had expressed to me the difficulties she was having putting God first and finding the time to soak in His word. After one of her first lessons, she texted me the following: “So last night in pottery class, I kept thinking about God being the potter and us the clay.…
