As my father was driving me to an old worn out brick building. He drove me there two times before, but tonight was special tonight was Halloween. The building I was working at was made of old brick. The bricks were faded because of water and had scars where vines were the summer before. There were small props like a homemade box for someone to jump out and scare the people in line. There was a ticket booth painted like it was from an actual circus. The glass door that had a freaky clown behind it. I put the skin colored fabric over my face as I walked in. I looked as if I had no face. My toes were painfully cramped in the two sizes to small grubby once black shoes that had tye-dye shoelaces on them. My knees were uncovered because of my holy …show more content…
I guess it did at least from the looks the sky lit up into a bright pink. That sky made hot pink look black. When the blue met with the pink the colors were vibrant and awestrucking. Although I couldn’t appreciate the view for long because every two or three minutes AAAAAHHHHH or OOOHHHH MMMMMYYYY GGGGGOOOOOD came from upstairs. The noises upstairs meant we had people and we had to scare them. The darker the sky got the colder I got. About the time crowds of people started to pour in we turned on a fog machine. The fog smelt like caramel. The smell of caramel did not do the musty wood any favors. The smell was something like moldy caramel with wet wood chips in it lit on fire it was not pleasant. The house was supposed to close at 11:00 instead we scared people till 12:39. Around 11:15 Dominos pizza came and the only room it could sit in was ours. When I had a chance I would go and get my cold water bottle and let the ice cold water flow over my tongue and down my sore throat which was sore because I had to yell and scream a lot. The pizza was making me so hungry that I was frozen with hunger my stomach cramped my legs were tired my arms were stiff my nose was in pain from being pushed up with the fabric and I just wanted to be done but I couldn't stop people kept coming. Finally at 12.40 we were told that there was no more

Since its release in 1978, John Carpenter’s film Halloween has become a staple in the horror genre. This film is regarded as highly influential, being dubbed “a cornerstone of the modern horror film” by one critic (Vishnevetsky). Though the film tells the story of Michael Myers, it is the female lead, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, who captures the attention of the audience. In this analysis, I will provide evidence that Curtis’ character, Laurie Strode, is an example of Carol Clover’s trope of the Final Girl. I will also discuss how this film relates to Laura Mulvey’s concept of the Male Gaze and furthermore, Sigmund Freud’s psychosexual stages of development theory.…

Maya rants, frustrated that her overly sociable friend dragged her to Charlie Gardner’s Halloween party, which Riley described as, “what will be the most amazing wingding since Charlie Gardner’s Christmas shindig,” which of course made Maya give Riley a stern talk about her avoidance of the word party while instead using it’s many synonyms. “Maya, Maya, Maya, my dear peaches…,” Riley drawls out, clicking her tounge in fake annoyance, “Sitting at home and watching Netflix is not a good life choice.” Maya grins at her innocent, very oblivious friend, “And partying is, Riles?” Sometimes…

As I passed through downtown Atlanta, I couldn't help admire the home of the Braves, not just because it was an architectural wonder but because it brought back to mind that very first lesson when Professor Van Huevelen sparked my curiosity when he said we find that there are some things in this world that are repeatable. Repeatable. Repeatable. So a baseball pitcher, if he throws a ball with the same speed and in the same direction, spinning the ball the same, it'll end up going about the same place.…

It was dark but not pitch black, there was sunlight peeking through the window, which was covered with wood that you can tell the person who placed it there was too short to reach the top part of the window. The sun had spotlighted the door as though it was destiny calling. I didn't know where I was or how I got there which drove my nerves crazy. My mouth was covered with what seemed to be 100 layers of duct tape which left my mouth tingling with the unpleasant taste. Both my hands were tied together with rope very securely behind an old wooden chair, my blood in both my hands felt as though it was trapped which caused me to feel the sensation of fireworks in them.…
