Personal Narrative: Half Pound Burger

A big, juicy, half pound burger. I could barely fit it in my mouth. Any normal person would see that and not even think they would be able to finish… 5:00 in the morning, this is whent my day started. Me, my sister kaitlynn, and my mom are off to Texas to visit my aunt Tera and our cousins Zaniel, Zian, and Zoe. As we sat at the train station (half asleep), I remember my mom giving us our tickets, and my shoes… and the trash can for some reason. No I didn’t throw away my shoes. When I got on the train I was surprised at how luxurious it was, of course it's not plated in gold, but…

My memory of the train ride from grand rapids to Chicago is less than stellar. As in I don't remember anything after I fell back asleep. After I woke up, we bolted. We were late for our next train, and this was our only way to Texas. When we finally found it we were an hour early, and we were hungry! But where to? This is Chicago, we don't live in Chicago. Either way we were leaving because we were hungry! If I didn't tell you already.

It was a burger shop not to far from the station, and Adam from Man Vs Food had gone there. Of course upon hearing this I was instantly convinced that was where we were eating. But once we entered the restaurant my mind became vacant. I had no clue what I was going to eat. And what didn't was that I couldn’t stop thinking about how I’m probably not going to eat here in awhile. Ooh, I got it, a half pound burger. Seems legit. Don't ask me what I was thinking. Because even I don't

I was thrilled to be escaping from home and traveling to Gatlinburg. The cabin we would be renting was outstandingly gorgeous. I had my own full size bed , couch, and a full bathroom. Unfortunately it is a seven and half hour drive to the cabin from my house so of course we had to find something to do. We saw fifty out of fifty states, two provinces of Canada, and Great Britain license plates and the top three states we saw were Indiana, New York, and Ohio.…

The most eventful thing I have done this summer was going to Turkey Run. It’s two hours away from Wheatfield, and it’s in Marshall. The drive was pretty long on the way there, my mom had to run an errand or two and then we went to McDonalds for lunch. Then we just continued our drive there. We entered a different time zone on the way there, it was an hour ahead than the time here in Jasper County.…

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that an individual child with a desire to gain one Snickers bar, must be prepared to trade no less than three Twix bars. In my household, every bag of fun sized confections was an opportunity for a ridiculous negotiation with a not so ridiculous lesson behind it. When my father loves Snickers just as much as I do, why should he take only one inferior Twix for one Snickers? Critically assessing how much my companion stands to lose versus how much I was willing to pay to get what I want is a skill I have been developing since middle school. Negotiation and debate, human interaction of all kinds have always piqued my interests both academically and recreationally.…

My dad started to grill some steak, cheeseburgers, and sausage. I could smell the food from a distance, it smelled amazing and could hear the meat sizzle on the grill. As guests came they each got their plate of food and could hear them talking about what they did in summer and also complimented my dad on the food. After I ate my delicious food, I played soccer with my brother and some friends for a short time because it was a hot day. I later went to get some dessert and some fruit before more of the guests came.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…

When I was younger, I was always criticized for being too skinny. People would mumble “chicken-legs” or “toothpick” behind my back and sometimes even to my face. I was always being told to eat as much as I could so I could get some meat on my bones, so I did. Around my 8th grade year summer, before entering high school, my whole body changed. I’m not sure if it was me finally reaching adolescence, but I sure did change my eating habits.…
