Personal Narrative: Gunshots

Gunshots woke me up. What seemed to be an enlightening day, turned out quite the opposite.
Just the day before, our burglar alarm's siren echoed throughout the house at 4 a.m. My dad rushed downstairs to determine if our house had been broken into; the back door was slightly open, but nobody else was in the house. Surprisingly, on the next day, my neighbor's house had been hit with a multitude of bullets around midnight. Consequently, this abruptly alerted the entire neighborhood and rocked each and every person to their core. These particular events started when I moved to my current neighborhood in 2nd grade. Nevertheless, circumstances like these have shaped me to be an intrepid leader.
My upbringing was a mix of chaos and uncertainty. Living in a family of four meant that chores were a frequent duty for me alongside my

While my friends were partying, playing games, and having fun, I stayed inside and focused on my academic future. Even when I finished my work, I had to assist my sister with her homework on a daily basis so she could academically excel. "How do I find the roots of this function?" It pleased me that she looked up to me and sought my aid; I couldn't resist helping her. After all, we both had the intention to journey to top-notch colleges to make our parents proud. Going to college will make me the first in my family to attend higher education after high school. Doing so, I can get a satisfying job and my father can finally stop working at a gas station for a below average salary. Going to college will make a desirable and substantial impact on my family and community as well. I will be the first Bangladeshi Muslim to conclude high school in my local area and attend college. This is a colossal accomplishment since it proves that success comes from even the worst backgrounds (my neighborhood is a crime-filled

My friends and I were at my friend Alex’s house we were all ready to play some airsoft we all already arrived in our gear. My gear consisted of british armor infantry desert BDUs (Battle dressed uniform) a face mask, a boone hat, a military grade vest and, a desert camo backpack which held water, snacks, and pellets. I had also brought my tormentor, an automatic rifle with a semi automatic mode and a pump action fire for close quarters, but we made a rule at close quarters you can only have pistols. We started picking teams. “Logan, Andrew F, and Jake on one side since Logan has a spring loaded single fire assault rifle and Andrew F has a single action sniper, Jake since you have the only automatic weapon (Ak-74U model) you will be team leader”.…

As he thumbed off the safety, he allowed himself one last, stolen glance at the sculptured head, arching up to grasp an apple. Jamie swallowed and slowly started to squeeze the trigger. Than his foot moved and crunched on a stick the 8 point buck looked at him and blasted away jamie shot and hit it in the left leg. He went back home and brought the bad news. Then about 3-4 years later his dad said he was strong enough to use the family gun, a beautiful 375 magnum 12x13 optical zoom scope and a waping 4 ½ inch cartridge with a nice 2 inch bullet, the gun had 2 inch thick padded stock with a bolt action that was just greased along with with a spec ops tripod and shotgun sights of course since this gun loads and unloads through the top it was…

Life's a journey worth taking the unbeaten path. That is why, despite looking up to my loving parents and having the utmost respect for them, I have taken a different road than they did. However, undergoing any challenge without their guiding experience can certainly prove to be an undertaking. I, a first generation college student, am the pioneer of higher education for my family. Though I join many others in lunging out into the world for the first time, I am doing so without having a father or mother to tell me how to tackle the college experience.…

One consequence that I specifically came to college for was the ability to get a job and be part of a group of coworkers. Having a degree will enhance my ability to get a job and be able to work as part of a group or team. I will go to work everyday and be a member of my coworkers group which will only be possible upon earning my degree. This concept also relates to social stratification in that a person with a degree is more qualified and would therefore receive a higher position of power and prestige because of it. Another consequence of attending college and earning my degree is that I would be able to maintain or even improve upon my current social class rather than decline.…

My experience with firearms is extensive through my 12 years of experience in the Marine Corps and now as a P.O.S.T. certified police officer. I have attended numerous range courses that have put me through many challenging scenarios designed for experts only with a pistol, shotgun and assault rifle. Furthermore, I have participated in Active Shooter training with the Department of Homeland Security, University of Tennessee Police Department and Roane State Police Department to name a few. Currently, our department requires all of our officers to attend two range courses a year and the mandated yearly in-service course to maintain our certification as law enforcement officer.
