Personal Narrative: Growing Up With A Single Mom

Growing up with a single mom was very eye opening. We always moved house to house, city to city, and state to state. It was and amazing experience to live everywhere from Michigan to Hawaii, but nothing was ever set and stone. My Mom is the kindest and most big hearted person I know. She has always given me a home, food, and love, but this is all she was really able to give me. I had less clothes and toys than my peers, I was never put into sports or other activities, and I was often home alone. As a child it was normal to be getting myself up in the mornings, making myself a small breakfast, and walking to the bus stop. I would come home from school make myself a snack and do my homework before playing outside with my friends because I knew that was what I was supposed to do. …show more content…
As of right now, I work Jumpcity which is a warehouse filled with trampolines and bouncy castles. I love working(or jumping) with the kids, even if they have runny noses. I now live with my Father, and I am the only one to take care of our house. I clean my home top to bottom and cook every night no matter how tired I am because I know my . Another great quality I learned and achieved from this was independence. I make my own decisions and stay on my own path to success. There are plenty of people who try to detour me and take me down their roads of negativity and bad decisions, but I choose to stay independent. All of my friends are outgoing and funny just like me but I will never be the person who streaks through a neighborhood and gets a ticket just to impress them. I always try to think about how a decision will affect me before I act. Because my Mom wasn't always there to hold my hand through every single situation when I was younger, I have learned to have great independence and take all responsibility serious.
